DVDs you bought solely for a special feature?

Do you have any DVDs of movies you don't like or care about, but bought because you wanted to see/hear a certain special feature?

A lot of my Something Weird discs are that way. I really didn't care a whole lot about the movie, but the features were the selling points on a lot of them.

I don't know, but that Carrot Top commentary on The Rules of Attraction is pretty tempting.

And I'll admit I watch the gag reel on Armaggedon:CC more than the movie.

I guess this doesn't include pr0n like "Virtual Sex with Jenna" and the like?

I picked up Blade II used because of how much everyone raved about the quality of the disc, and because I wanted to hear the commentary.

No.
But... I bought Gladiator blind a long while back and ended up hating the movie, but now am only holding on to it because it has a pretty good documentary on it. But, it wasn't planned that way.

I have been tempted to buy Dude where's my Car, because it's pretty cheap now, and I heard the commentary is one of the funniest ever recorded for a dvd.

I don't care much for The Scorpion King but I bought it anyway because Kelly Hu is a special feature to me :p

No, but I considered buying Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter and I Spit on Your Grave for the Joe Bob Briggs commentaries. But in the end, I decided against it.

You own Something Weird DVDs? Then you should post here immediately!

Oh, and I bought Jodorowsky's worst film Fando & Lis solely for the feature length documentary about him. The documentary turned out to be excellent (and the film was as worse as ever... )

Yupp, but just one: Cleopatra. I have never managed to get through that movie ( and to be honest I think I've given up on it), but the documentary that's included is one of the best documentaries about 'old hollywood' I've ever seen. Who cares about the intrigues of Cleopatra when you can have the intrigues of Elizabeth Taylor?

I bought
  • Deeply in R2, because it was in widescreen there, not in R1
  • Lost Highway in R2 for the very same reason as the Deeply DVD
  • Mulholland Dr., R0, from Korea, because it has scene selections and extras, something that the R1 DVD lacks.

I bought "Taboo 17" because it was the first time I'd ever seen a porno DVD with a director's commentary, and I wanted to hear one. ("Latex" on laserdisc has a commentary too, but it was 50 bucks when it came out and they accidentally put the commentary on the digital tracks and the main soundtrack on the analog- for 50 bucks I wasn't gonna go for that.)

I agree Moogle

Commentary tracks are my favorite extra on DVDs or
laserdiscs. You said eariler that you bought Pearl Harbor
Vista Series for some of the extras. I did the same thing.
Don't much care for the movie, but some good stuff included
with the package.

I just bought Black Hawk Down SE for the commentaries.
I am only OK with this movie, but alot of people were raving
over the extras so I went for it to expand my collection.

I got Fight Club only for the commentary with Fincher, Pitt,
Norton and Bonham-Carter. It's an entertaining listen.

They're mine too... a good doc is a close second. Deleted scenes and such really don't appeal to me...

I don't own it yet, but I do plan on buying it for that exact reason. seriously, as much as people may dislike Affleck and such, I love his commentaries.

Clearks and Chasing Amy. Two Kevin Smith films I'm not too crazy about. When I watch them I only watch the deleted scenes and commentary.
