where are the rest of the seasons? is the delay due to poor sales or syndication issues? thanks.

Poor sales; I don't anticipate Columbia bringing any more of these out unless Garry Shandling has a big event (new movie or TV show) to tie a marketing push into. Right or wrong, that's apparently the way Columbia thinks.

Good. Shandling isn't and never has been funny. The only thing that made that show bearable was the strength of some of the supporting cast and guest stars.

Quit thread-farting. I don't come and dump all over the things you want. It's all in the matter of different tastes.

Personally I'd give up every John Carpenter film on DVD - forever - in order to get more Larry Sanders. Definately a personal choice. Definately.

I loved this show, and I was thrilled when the first season was released on DVD. Unfortunately, during the first season they were still searching for their tone and finding their footing. Once Sanders got rolling, it was easily one of the funniest shows on TV. Unlike a lot of HBO's programming, I haven't seen every episode of this show a thousand times and would whole-heartedly welcome further DVD releases. Unfortunately I have to concur with Uni, that sales were weak and demand was low for this set. They have certainly lost any chance at momentum and another season release would have to start the ball rolling all over again. I think they lack the heart to put forth the effort, and as Uni said, unless something happens with Shandling shortly (unlikely after Town And Country), we aren't going to be seeing this on disc for quite some time.

I'd blame the poor sales in part on a rather high price for what (IIRC) was a three disc set.

I just finished reading the Sanders autobiography that Shandling wrote this weekend and it just makes me want more season sets even more now...

I never bought season one because I could never find it for less than $60, and I'm not paying that much for 20 eps of a 20 minute comedy with (from what I heard) shitty video.

I'd rather have Dream On! anyway :p

Fairly cheap at Deep Discount, a little over $10 off MSRP (which isn't $60)

And I wonder if Dream On holds up, I haven't seen it in years.

I'll pick this up for this price! Thanks Lar... they must have dropped MSRP sometime recently, because I know it was $59.99 at Best Buy when I last checked it

Yea, I heard the video quality sucks, the supplements suck, and the cover art sucks. What gives? I can only imagine the deleted scenes for that show. I am enjoying the hell out of them on Bravo at 1am though.

See, now just imagine owning the discs and hearing the occasional 'fuck' which is often with Garry. Not to mention the other things cut for Bravo. I never had a problem with the video quality on the discs... seemed just as good as my normal HBO feed. As for suppliments, it's not as if HBO spoils us with them on any other sets so why start now?

Original SRP on Larry Sanders was $53.99; it's now down to $39.95...still too high for most people for a 3-single-layer-disc set with 13 episodes.

This show was only BROADCAST on HBO. It was and is owned by Columbia/Sony, so don't bring HBO's DVD product into this as a comparison. Better to compare to All In The Family, Mad About You, or Dawson's Creek.

As someone who has a load of eps on tape I can say its still a very funny show and deserved to be on dvd.

I dont buy that low sales on the first season. I think it has something to do that as soon as that came out they started airing episodes on fox and Bravo. It may be a contract syndication thing.
