It's a fairly old film about an evil in a Catholic church that is killing priests and the vatican sends this investigator to figure out whats going on. But before the evil can kill him it tempts him and tries to corrupt him.

Someone please tell me the name of this movie I'm thinking it came out in the 80's.

It sounds like you're talking about The Unholy from 1988 starring Ben Cross. Maybe?
