WM9 player vs PowerDVD vs WinDVD: Which is best?

In this post,

Criterion playback problems

sirmikael mentions using WM9 for DVD playback. How does WM9 compare to PowerDVD or WinDVD for DVD-ROM playback?

Peace...

I need a good player to play porn on my laptop and I've tried them all. PowerDVD is far and away the best of the bunch. Windows Media is getting better, but still lacks some of the friendly features that PowerDVD has.

I tried WMP and didnt like it at all. Then the free version of WinDVD was unimpressive. So I use PowerDVD all the time now.

PowerDVD is my least favorite piece of software of the three but I'm forced to use it. I would love to use TheaterTek if it worked on my PC but I guess I'll never know. Can't they make a trial version or a version that limits the functionality just for demo purposes?

I'm a stand alone DVD player guy, but that's not how I voted. I voted for WinDVD. For what little DVD watching I do on my computer WinDVD works great for me. I haven't tried PowerDVD.

PowerDVD all the way!!!!!!

PowerDVD is by far the best of the bunch. I have a lot of trouble with Windows Media Player (it's not my computer--I have a 2.4GHZ Intel w/1 GB RAM, 80GB Hard drive, and a 64MB 4XAGP ATI Card!). I was using Windows XP, but have reverted back to Windows 2000..a hell of a lot more stable and no trouble at all playing DVDs with PowerDVD.

I think what happens with WMP is that it tries to locate the title of the disk online somewhere and since I mainly play movies that I record from my tapes and/or Laserdisks it never finds what it's looking for online (by the way, I have Roadrunner Cable)...

I'm always open to try a new program, so if anybody knows of any good DVD players, please let me know.

By the way, it would be nice if they could make 1 player that would play EVERYTHING, such as DIVX, RealAudio, Quicktime, Windows Media Format, .mpgs, .mp4s, and DVD.

PowerDVD is certainly the best I've tried, amongst WinDVD, Interactual, and my joke of a player Compaq software that came on the computer.

I had never heard of TheaterTek. Looking into it, I'd really like to try it.
I need to update my PowerDVD player too though. I wonder how much of a difference there is between my 4.0 version and the latest...

I've been using PowerDVD 5 for about a month now and it works great.

Hey--three Texans in a row!

I used a demo version of PowerDVD 5.0 for a short while and it seems work great. I still can't imagine paying $60 for it just to watch DVDs on my computer. I would love to upgrade, but not at that price. Hell, I could buy 4 DVDs for that much money

I have powerdvd and windvd, and I prefer the layout and usability of windvd, especially the screen capture. The only thing I don't like about it is that it can't do the interactual stuff.

I have multiple copies of WinDVD and PowerDVD that came with drives in my PC. I like PowerDVD the best. I tried to like WinDVD and Media Player 9, but they seemed to lack something that PDVD had.

Yea it is my understanding (from the TT forums) that the author wishes he could do a real demo (right now you can give your credit card for a 7 or 10 day trial) and he is trying to work a deal with sonic so he can. The problem is the tricky licensing of the sonic decoder.
