Scorsese classics - why does this man's films mean a bad DVD?

What is it with Scorsese films. He has made some of the best films to date but all of the DVDs (Taxi Driver excluded) are really awful. Even the recent Bringing ou the Dead was a dud disc. We need special editions. Anybody know of plans for special editions of Goodfellas (unbelievably still only available as a flipper)or Casino?

I read somewhere that there would be special editions of Cape Fear and Goodfellas late this year or early next.
