The Best Buy Matrix Bonus DVD - Be aware...

The bonus DVD that Best Buy is offering is in a DVD sized square cardboard cover that is shrink wrapped to the actual movie DVD, and the artwork is made to match up to the movie cover.

The reason I point it out is that it is relativly easy to pick up one thinking you have the bonus DVD as well, but not really having it. The Best Buy in Dallas I went to had both bonus and non-bonus versions mixed together in the rack and the table they set up each week with stacks of the new releases was all non-bonus DVDs. The fact they had so many non-bonus DVDs makes me think you better get to Best Buy ASAP if you want a bonus disk.

I haven't had a chance to watch the bonus disk yet, but the only thing you seem to gain (assuming you already own the Matrix and the Animatrix) is the Reloaded trailer. So - the bonus disk is not critical, but if you are going to Best Buy because of it, make sure you actually get it.

What exactly is included on this special disc?

I hadn't intended on purchasing Reloaded at this time, but if the Animatrix is on it, it might be worth purchasing.

I can get a $1.00 BB game piece from Mickey D's. That means I'll have payed $13.99 for the movie, plus some cheap french fries.

I ordered my Reloaded DVD off of Best Buy's website. They claim that it will come with the bonus disc but if it doesn't I'll be pissed.

Animatrix contains 9 stories, but only one appears on the Best Buy Bonus disk. It's the one that concerns the rise of the machines and the fall of mankind, so it's good background info. It's actually part 2 with part one covering the history of man's use of robots to the robots becoming sentient and setting up their own society. Part 2, on the bonus disk, is about man's distrust turned hatred of the robots, the final war and the eventual scorching of the sky that Morpheus talked about in the first Matrix film.

If you like the sample included on the bonus disk, I highly recommend getting the Animatrix. I enjoy some anime (and get bored with a lot of it that I've seen), but every story on Animatrix is good (if you like the whole Matrix universe) and the various styles of animation are all great.

I got mine, but from the list above I am interested in absolutely nothing, so it may never even get "player time"...

I'm really pissed, because I went there and they had them all mixed up with the others that don't have the bonus disk and I accidently picked up one that didn't have the bonus disk. Right after I picked it up I gave it to my dad and didnt even check it untill I got home. By the time I got home I already forgot about the bonus disk and opened the box and put it in and watched some of it. And then I came to the computer for a break and saw this topic and relized I forgot it. Well, I deserve to not to have it because I should of double checked.

BB was all out of the bonus discs with widescreen, so I swiped my bonus disc from a fullscreen version. It's nothing special, really, but it's good to have.

Yeah, it's right on the front of the package. Like someone else said, the cover of the bonus disc is made to look like the cover of reloaded, so it blends in.

I was distracted by someone buying about 8 copies of the foolscreen version (why?) so I just grabbed the first widescreen one I saw. I was at the counter when the clerk handed me the coming attractions disc and I was like "Oh, is _that_ the bonus disc?" He went and got one with the bonus disc for me. I had almost forgotten.

It's pretty worthless, but I suppose I'll just put it in the Reloaded case and save it. Why you ask? I have no idea.
