Problems with "Out of Sight"
I recently purchased a copy of "OUT of SIGHT" and found that in a few chapters the dialogue/audio is out of synch with the actors. Can a problem like this be isolated to only a few copies of the movie or is this a problem that applies to all DVDs of "Out of Sight"?

My copy of Out of Sight is fine with no audio synch problems. So was the copy I rented before deciding to purchase. I can't imagine such a problem being isolated to some but not all copies unless the title had been remastered. I don't recall hearing of such a problem, corrected or otherwise, with this disc before. It may be a problem with the way your player handles the decoding and playback.
I checked some online DVD glitch lists but didn't see any entries for Out of Sight. Unfortunately, the DVD Resource glitch list at http://www.dvdresource.com/features/glitchlist.shtml is down for renovation, so I couldn't check that one. ------------------ Wesly Moore ------------------ weslymoore@aol.com |

Interesting. I don't know your buying habits, but I'll usually just buy a DVD, even if it's one I haven't seen. And rarely will I buy after I rent. Tho' I rented both Out of Sight and Elizabeth and purchased them afterwards. I wonder if this is just a coincidence, or if it's something about that title that first makes people think it might be interesting as a rental and then makes them feel like they much own it...

I usually just buy, but I hadn't seen Out of Sight in theaters when the Oscar nominations were announced. This is when I enter my annual mad-dash Oscar catch-up phase, and the only way I could see some nominated films was to rent or buy them. I rented Out of Sight first because it was an unknown quantity, was blown away, and decided I wanted to buy a copy. That also took the pressure off of watching all the supplements--in one night!

That happened to me as well. I saw the movie in the theater, thought it was good but not great. Then I rented the disc, and thought it was so much better on a second viewing, that I orderded it immediately. That is also rare for me, renting and then buying. I've only done it with Out of Sight, Phantasm, A Bug's Life S.E., and a great short film called The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb.
