"Story of Ricky" (i.e. "I'm crushing your head")
"Story of Ricky," otherwise known as "Rikki Oh" was supposed to come out April 25 from Tai Seng, but it never did, and no word on a cancellation or anything else. Does anyone have any information on this title?
Note: Anyone who's never heard of this (the head crushing scene was shown on "The Daily Show" when Craig Kilborn was hosting during five questions) and thinks most hard to find cult movies don't live up to their reputation ought to seek out the uncut version of this. It took me over a year to find a extremely washed out badly subtitled version of this, (that only improved the experience) and it was worth it. ------------------ "Disco Stu likes disco dancing." |

Taxi:

Nice. I think I'll stay away. After American History X I'd seen enough head crushing for my entire life.

From what I've seen when the had the Stoner's Guide to Movies (is that the correct title?) on the Daily Show many years back, it's rather cartoon action movie like.
I heard at one point in my life that the live-action movie is actually a remake of an anime. Tho' not to say that anime is "cartoon-like", of course, as I'm sure most of us have seen examples and sub-genres that aren't for kiddies and/or turn the stomach. |

"ricky oh" is fantastic. i really hope that it comes out on dvd. not that i'd buy it, just to rent and enjoy with friends once in a while. it's like "romeo must die" (as that has borrowed heavily from ricky, right down to the xray shots of injuries) and the gore of "dead alive."

------------------ Taxi DVDFile Moderator taxi@dvdfile.com Story of Ricky is hard to take seriously. It's like watching any of the "Evil Dead" movies or "Dead Alive" except the filmmakers pretend that they don't know it's funny. The deaths are so over-the-top and extreme that it would be unbearable if they seemed realistic (unlike American History X's head crush). Trust me Taxi, it's worth seeing, a drink or a toke won't hurt the experience either. ------------------ "Disco Stu likes disco dancing." |

I've seen a release date for it on express.com's Pre-order list.. Its 7/18 and they have the cover art posted.
http://www.express.com/consumer/prod...TNUMBER=14019. I fell in love with this movie when I saw it. One of the most over the top action movies ever made. The gore is more like comic book or video game violence. In fact the whole movie has that comic book feel to it. Moreso than any of the superhero films made here. It was a manga and anime before. I own a widescreen and pan&scan version of the film on tape, plus the anime (w/o subtitles). This is a cult classic to the nth degree. The violence is insane and funny at the same time. Along with the headcrush scene, fists go through bodies, people explode, one badguy tries to strangle Ricky with his own intestines, etc. Everyone should see it. I'm not a gore movie freak, believe me. Hell, I just bought the Criterion disc of "The Red Shoes" today, which is more up my alley. But "The Story Of Ricky" rules. |
