Fun with X2 and Pirates (Pics and Info!)

Hey All... Just got my copy of X2 and Pirates and I am going to be posting pictures and taking requests for info.

I know the first question... and the answer is YES. R1 Pirates has DTS (I dont know if that has been confirmed earlier... but I see it right here in the menu!)

No store broke street, I was able to get them through a friend.

EDIT: Smudged for friend's protection Sorry

Lucky Bastard

Glad to see Pirates of the Caribbean is getting the DTS treatment. Now here's my question. When you play Pirates (if you have the receiver to encode DD EX) Does the receiver nfact pick up an EX coding on the disc. Just wondering since it was a DD-EX track in theaters.

But again

YOU LUCKY BASTARD

How the FUCK are you getting this so early??? It's not due 'til December 2nd! Disney's shipping discs more than 2 weeks in advance?

Where'd you purchase it?

Looks great!!!

I was also wondering were he got them from. I'm hoping to get them as Christmas gifts because I loved both of the movies and the set's look and sound good! Thanks for posting,

Moonraker, just wondering here, but in those pics of Pirates and X2 it shows the DVD trays facing the opposite way from which they are usually arranged in R1 dvds. Did you rearrange it for photographic purposes or are they packaging trays differently now?

Have fun with them, especially the DTS on Pirates.

edit -- nm, I only had to look at the first pic to answer my question. Duh. *smacks forehead*

Looking around the X2 DVD, Some footage is missing...

There was a shot from the POV inside the fridge looking up at Wolverine that is gone. I remember it from the theaters because i was really distracted by that shot. Anyways, now its just a longer take on Bobby. Just thought you might be interested in this.

Oh BTW I saw X2 in theaters early... maybe it was taken out from later theater prints?? Anyone else remember that shot?

The bag under the POTC case says something "outlet." Since it says "CD's" and what looks like "DVD's" that could be where he got them.

If you guys who are asking him where he bought them early would actually read the first post, he said: "No store broke street, I was able to get them through a friend."

Checked the pic for the "outlet" info - looks like someone "smudged" them out!

Anyway, I'm picking up mine Monday morning along with my Alien Quadrilogy box. Glad Pirates got DTS in the end.

The sound in the theater was the one aspect that I thought was lacking (both places that I saw it anyway) and couldn't wait to be able to pump it up at home.

Nice lookin' sets!

When I watched this a couple of days ago (got my R1 copy early too), there is a shot in Iceman's house looking up at Wolverine as he's looking through the fridge and then picks up a beer.

---------------------------------------------------

http://www.movietyme.com have got Alien Quadrilogy and Pirates in stock among others.

Damn, these both look like killer sets. I will definitly pick upX2 , but am still on the fence about Pirates. After seeing Master and Commander this weekend, I found it to be the better movie. much more realistic, and not full of Disney cheesiness.

hey, I just borrowed the Pirates disc from a friend and I had a few things I wanted to point out.

-The DTS, while nice....isn't very active, meaning......I noticed it a few times in some battle scenes, but not very often.
-I believe there may be a framing problem in the scene where Will throws the sword for Jack to stand on. If you will go to that scene and look at it...you can only see the top of Jack's head, not his face. I will try to get a screen cap on here before the night is out, but I couldn't remember if this was the way it was in the theatres or not.
-Also, I wonder about the aspect ratio of the film, as it seems more thin than most of the other films I have viewed, especially with 16:9 enhancement on.

Anyways, just thought I would ask you if you noticed any of this aswell.

Boy was it great to see this film again. Depp is amazing, and I don't care what you say....nominate him for Best Actor this year.....he poured in two amazing performances in films this year.

????

M&C is a "worthy", Oscar contender type film, full of meatiness.

POTC is a fun, swashbuckling dumb adeventure film, and all the better for it!

How can you compare them - oh, they both have ships in them. I think we should add White Squall then as well - that's just like both of these films.

I wish i sa wit in our DTS theater when i had it at work. Just wondering if it flagged an EX coding for the Dolby sound (if you have that option on the receiver)

I'm pretty sure that's how i remember it being in theaters. The screen cap will be great to solidify i final answer.

It was projected in the Scope ratio. In theater its shown at 2.35:1 and this one might be a 2.40:1 aspect as the appeture plate would mask that extra bit of film.

Yes he should get a nod for best actor and sadly i don't think he will because of its comedic takes. Well at least honour him with the Golden Globe at the very least

DTS not active? Man that's a bummer! I hope it was something faulty with your system dude

I saw this in the theatre and thought that this could be a great demo disc. We'll see in a couple of weeks I guess.
