Jurassic Park R1 DTS vs. R2 Superbit-Huge difference!

While im highly satisfied with my copy of the R1 (Dolby) DVD, there is no denying the R2 Superbit looks better:

Hey, that's pretty cool. That's one SUPERBIT title I would buy.

The colors on the R2 disc appear to be oversaturated, in my opinion. Based upon those shots, I'd much rather watch my R1 DTS copy.

Yeah, that's really oversaturated. Just look at the reds and oranges, yuck! They are exhibiting some major smearing and bleeding.

Is it me, or is there really not that much difference in the details?

The color does look stronger, but I prefer the muted, mor film-like r1 look.

I agree completely. The Superbit almost looks like a cartoon.

Yeah, the reds and oranges are a-blooming. And the greens almost look neon. There is a very slight (and I do mean slight) increase in fine detail for the Superbit but that's the only improvement worth mentioning. It's a good looking transfer nonetheless. But looking at those screenshots, I was actually surprised at how well the older release holds up. I agree with BubbleGumUK's assessment of the R1 looking more filmlike. I may have to revisit this one soon.

I personally think the greens stand out a lot better colour and detail wise. But like everyone else the Red and any other bright coloured object seems too bright/saturated. The green tinge on the Universal disc seems to keep them in control and adds a nice dark presence to the new world of the past. I'll stick with my Universal DTS version
