What About Bob?

My local circuit city is selling the non-anamorphic bare bones What About Bob? DVD for $6.99. My hope is that the reason they lowered the price so much is because they have a special edition in the works. Does anyone know anything about a possible new and better edition of this great comedy coming out?

No, I don't see a Special Edition ever happening for this movie. Frank Oz would probably do a commentary if asked, but I don't see Murray or Dreyfuss going out of their way to contribute to special features, or even anything else they would add. Deleted scenes would be cool.

If you haven't already, just buy it for $6.99. The SRP is $9.99, and it's non-anamorphic, but it's widescreen and a decent presentation of a hilarious movie!

This movie is also in the $5.88 bin at Wal-Mart. Which is where I picked it up at. Great flick!

I too doubt there are any Special Edition plans. The DVD has been at that bargin bin price for over a year now along with many others from that studio like Cabin Boy, Encino Man, Captain Ron etc. Every store seems to have that same series of Touchstone studio movies on a discount rack somehere. If you like the movie, you might as well go with the insanely low priced edition that's out now, even if it's not anamorphic.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath for this one. Buy it, enjoy it, and know that the WS is better than pan & scan. Just be happy it is out... I'm STILL waiting for fucking QUICK CHANGE!

Yeah, I'm going to just buy it, but I hate when I do and then a new edition with a better anamorphic transfer comes out! But how can I resist $6.99? No big deal for one of my favorite comedies of all time.

I'm with you on Quick Change!!!!! Where is it?!?!?!?!?!

I used to watch that flick every moring while getting ready. An anamorphic version would be sweet, but I haven't heard anything about it.

Calm down there larphillips... baby steps... baby steps

I picked up What About Bob for like $7 or $8 a few months ago. It's such a great comedy it was worth buying even if its non-anamorphic :|

I love this movie, and this thread made me think - I need to get this one soon! I, like the rest don't see a special edition of this coming out ever. You can't beat $5.88 (at Wal*Mart)!
