Indy Jones Set should have been a Digipack

The Indiana Jones Set should have been a 4 disc Digipack like the Lord of the Rings Extented Edition. 4 keepcases in a box just looks so boring and they would have been able to include stills from the movie. This also would have prevented them from being sold seperately on ebay. Your thoughts?

I preffer the Indy case style for multiple movies... plus, it's a "hard case" which I feel adds a feeling of quality to the set...

I short, I disagree.

I can accept either, but I do prefer individual keep cases. They are sturdier and easy to replace if damaged.

It is a digipack in Germany and every collector here complains that they should've come in keepcases. One (German forum) headshaker-post I read today went like "... and I bet Americans complain that they don't have digipacks."

My thoughts?
Finally, I know how Capitol I wants his Indiana Jones DVDs packaged!!!!

I'm not sure how DVD packaging can look too boring (too ugly, sure), when the excitement lies in the film on the disc... I don't own the set, but when I do, I don't imagine having a problem with it.

Whenever I think one of my DVD cases looks too boring, I tie ribbons on it and glue sparkles all over. It makes my Battle Royale case look wonderfully festive... maybe I'll hang it on the tree this year!

I'll echo almost everyone else here: I prefer the keep cases to any potential digipak. Though those keep cases would've looked nicer with some type of commerative booklets inside them

I recall reading somewhere recently that Paramount specifically made these in indivdidual keepcases because 1) Customers wanted the ability to loan individual films in the set to their friends, and 2) Rental stores wanted to rent them separately.

Personally, I was very happy that they were packaged the way they were. Same with Alias and Felicity. I really can't stand the Buffy/LOTR foldouts. I would like to just grab the one I want and go if I'm taking it with me and as I found out with Buffy, you can't get them replaced if the center piece isn't holding the DVD securely in the case.

The indy ones can be replaced if there is a problem and honestly, I'm tired of things coming in cardboard. Yeah, it looks pretty but is much more prone to damage than a keepcase.

I wish they had released each movie separately, but have the bonus disc as box-set only. I only want Raiders of the Lost Ark. Looks like I should try ebay for it.

I do not prefer either one over the other. I do think that keepcases are easier to get the movies out of then digipacks. Case in point this weekend I got the LOTR:TTT Extended Edition, first of all the pack itself is a little snug in the case which is fine, second of all when I open that baby up to take a disc out I have to lay it down on something or put it on the table so I don’t drop it. With Indy I just grab the disc I want open it up and pop it in, the rest of the set sits on the shelf.

Gotta go with the crowd here. Individual keep cases are much better. Now for a film like LoTR I thought the digi pack was very cool and appropriate but for multiple films I will take keep cases anyday. Indiana, Aliens, JP, DieHard etc. etc. all look much better in individual cases IMO.

It should have been a digipack and it should have been at least 7 discs.

How about that shot for shot remake of Raiders done by a group of teenagers with nothing other than a video camera and their imaginations? I would have loved to have seen that.

You know, that truly is great idea.

I would love to see that even though it strikes me as having zero chance of ever appearing on an official studio dvd.

Why not? Those guys would be thrilled to have that on a DVD. I'm sure that would be payment enough for them.

Y'know... the individually cased discs all have "wasted" space on the back cover, at the top right.

Y'know, where the ISBN retailer varcode strip usually goes?

Y'know, so they can, like, put them out seperately next Christmas?

Y'know...?

My Solution

I'm probably in the severe minority here, but I bought a 4-discer from inet and stuck them in there, then X-Actoed the box.

Takes up less space, and I now have four empty keepcases.

Personally I don't have any problem with Digipacks, especially since my uncle gave me his spare (I dunno why he had a spare one) 100 Disc DVD Changer. I just take all the discs out and put them in the changer and don't fool with them or the packaging again. Still, I like the Indy boxset the way it is. Not every mutli-disc pack has to be a Digi.

That would have been a nice extra. I saw it at Alamo Draft House here in Austin. I can't believe those kids pulled it off the way they did. It was pretty incredible and the whole theater kept errupting in cheers. It was like seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark for the first time again.

I like the way the box looks on my shelf. I have it so the opening faces inward, and all you see is the "leather" cover and the giant Indiana Jones logo.

I don't have Indiana Jones yet, but I like the way the package looks from pictures. And as a rule I usually prefer keepcases to digipacks (though digipacks are cool in their customization, I prefer the sturdier plastic to cardboard, even sturdy digipack cardboard.) All of the titles I currently own in a digipack (except for the awesome booklike Lord of the Rings Extended Editions) are things I'd just as well have preferred in a keepcase.

I don't own this set but I figured I would weigh in on it. I don't care if box sets come with keepcases or digipaks. I think digipacks are nice and look good w/the set, but they could get messed up quite easily. Keep cases look fine in a box set, and they don't get messed up as easily. So, for me both are fine, as long as the digipak does not get messed up.

Also, Capital I - what is the big deal if a person buys the set and sells them speartly on eBay? Maybe, they only like the two of the films and there is a person who only likes the film they are selling? I think people would sell a digpak for a collection to. I saw seprate The Godfather movies on eBay and at the used CD/DVD store The Exchange.

I purchased the Indy boxset from a Korean based etailer. Not only did it come in a leather look Raiders/Lucasfilm embossed organiser each movie was in a slim digipack (like my Godfather trilogy)Whilst i agree that they are not as sturdy as the amarays but they look so good.

They were intended to be sold as a set not for you to make money selling off seperately. That is dishonest.

How on earth is it dishonest? Once you buy the discs, they are yours to buy and sell however you wish. If you want to sell Temple Of Doom because you hate it, and someone else wants to buy Temple Of Doom because it is their favorite of the movies, what is wrong with that?

That this is a horrible horrible horrible idea. I hate digipacks. In fact, I wish the LOTR sets came in cases like Indy instead. I hate any packaging that is cardboard-based. Already my FOTR:EE is starting to come apart from being opened and closed so much, dammit it. I hate those fucking cases. They look nice, but they're totally fucking impractical in the long term.

Long live the thin keep cases... my shelf thanks them!!!

That said, the regular size is just perfect for the Indy set. I like this much better than cardboard and better than the kind of case that Back To The Future came in.

While i think that it would've been more practical to include them in a digipack, I dont mind at all having them in separate cases in one box, it looks cool enough that way.

personally, I don't like digipacks because it's a pain to get the discs out. I really like the tin box of Band of Brothers - it looks so cool on the shelf - but I hate the way the discs are stacked inside. You have to pull the damn thing out everything you wanted to get a disc out, and you have to be careful not to damage anything in the process. Looks good but terribly inconvenient.

That's one of the reasons why I would rather buy the region 2 Alien Quad boxset over the region 1 digipack.

I think this set looks great, definately one of my favorite box sets, both by quality and the looks of the set. I am so glad they used Amarays instead of digipacks. The thin Amaray cases are great for TV box sets, but I prefer the Normal sized plastic cases over any cardboard case.
