Region 1 Bond 19: the missing extras
OK, I may be bringing this subject a little late plus since I only recently joined this forum it might as well have been covered already, but having just received my R1 copy of TWINE I was shocked to find that many essential extras featured on the Region 2 release were missing. These features which I consider to be most interesting include two 25 minute documentaries(when all we get in the R1 disc is a 15 min. promotional and rather boring feature), a tribute to Desmond 'Q' Llewelyn and a preview for the PSX game based on the film. Since the two versions were released almost simultaneously there's no excuse for these features not showing up, unless they're supposed to be Easter eggs or something.
Anyway does anybody have a theory why this happened? It's just very odd to see the latest Bond being seriously outnumbered in extras from Dr. No and Goldfinger. Also, has anyone managed to make the English captions appear? So the cover doesn't mention any subtitles but previous Bond releases had them and this site's review insists that the captions exist. Is this an Easter Egg also? |

This seems to be MGM's attempt at stopping R2 customers importing R1 titles. Stigmata on R2 has an exclusive documentary and uses seamless branching for the alternate ending, while Summer Of Sam has a Spike Lee commentary. Other companies also seem to be doing this. Fox/Alliance have released the full blown Canadian Special Edition of eXistenZ over here and Columbia Tri Star always seem to put a couple more extras on their discs.
