Identify this movie (B-movie Martial Arts)

I just had a memory flash thru my head I was wondering if someone could help with...

There was this (pretty good) movie I saw one day on cable, and there was a guy (and girl?) who were targeted for death by some mob (either Japanese or Italian) and they come under the protection of a master samurai-type.
They flee in a memorable scene that takes place on a train. The bad guys got on the same train, and are advancing slowly up the cars, searching for them. The master samurai instructs the guy (and girl?) what to do. There's a cool fight when the bad guys enter their car, and the good guys end up getting away.

They make it to the East, and hide out at the teacher's home. The home has pupils who are learning from him. There may have been a studying scene and/or a "acquire the sword" scene at the house.

It ends with the bad guys raiding the house, and the teacher and the hero battling ninja. The teacher is hurt (thought dead?), the hero beats bad guy(s), end of story.

Was it "American Yakuza" maybe?

Thank you in advance if anyone can help with this very generic memory.

It is "The Hunted" with Christopher Lambert, also stars John Lone.

Lambert's character was being targeted by a clan of ninja's, as during a job, Lambert saw the leader's (John Lone) face.

Yup, that sounds like it. Don't confuse this with a more recent movie that has the same exact title, with Benicio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones.

Thank you tons - and that explains why I remembered it as a 'good movie' - my wife is a big Lambert fan.

I'm glad I could help...it was the train scene I remember most, otherwise I might not have remembered the title.
