Well crap. I already have the version out right now. At least I didn't buy it recently. I might rent the new SE when it comes out, just to see any bonus features not on the DVD I have now.

I remember heating about a Stripes SE THREE YEARS AGO on dvdtalk.

Glad I still haven't picked it up, but I hope it's coming.

I doubt it, although a man CAN wish.... More than likely it will be Ramis & Reitman.

I'd love to see if there were any Debra Winger nudity out-takes... you know, while we're wishing and all.

I don't care WHAT is on the SE, as long as there is some sort of tribute or retrospective for the late, great Warren Oates. He MADE that film for me.

Given the character roles I would think that PJ Soles would be more likely.

Thankfully, for whatever reason, I've never gotten around to picking this one up. I guess I was always holding out in hopes of an SE.

Yeah, it's Sean Young.

This was JUST on UK TV the other night, and I wondered why I hadn't picked this up on disc before, it's a fun movie.

Good job I didn't do an impulse buy. I'll wait for the SE!

I will ABSOLUTELY be double dipping if this SE is indeed in the works. We can dream about a Murray commentary, can't we? Too bad the late John Candy isn't around to add some input.

Sorry... you are correct. I just watched Urban Cowboy the other day and I had the sweet Ms. Winger on the brain.

They did a pretty good job on the GROUNDHOG DAY: SE when it came out. This one will get the same sort of treatment.

Count me as another collector who has held off on buying the barebones DVD, waiting forever for this SE to be released. I was expecting it to come out in 2003. I hope this SE will be a 2004 release.

A person has to draw the line SOMETIME with all of these mediocre releases going "Special Edition". The film companies are abusing their use of this term in the marketplace, making it a JOKE, and we as consumers have to let them know in their overflowing wallets, that we don't like it.

"Panic Room" was bad enough. Now this !

Unless they plan on enclosing at least, one, ten dollar bill in this release, they can stick it sideways "you know where" !

This is hardly the same thing. In fact, although you are not among them, there are a very large number of film fans that consider Stripes to be a classic of the genre and VERY worthy of an SE.

We should send it BACK to the $9.99 bargain bin, from whence it came and is being cheesily resurrected. "Classic" or not.

That's ALL that's going on here. Certainly you don't think it's "film preservation" ? You don't think for a minute that they are thinking of terms that it was a classic ? If it were, they would have included "special features" the first time around they spent the money to market it. Shameless commercialism of the icky kind, trying to pawn off shelves of sow's ears like this. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk !

Anyway, if it is a classic, why is it in the $9.99 bin, and why are the film companies playing Dr. Frankenstein with it and other titles, and trying to resussitate it ?

The real question we should be asking...who, in the cast and production credits, is getting the reissue $$$$$$$ points here ?

Like I stated before, just give 'em a new car, or a bag of Cocaine !

Did it ever occur to you that movies like these go to the "cheap bin" because the studios are trying to push the "bare bones" titles and make some more money off them before the "SPECIAL EDITION" comes out? This is not too hard to figure out.

This one IS a classic ... I can't wait. I personally have been holding out for a Special Edition of this one for a long time, as well as a few others .... TRADING PLACES ... FOOTLOOSE .... FLASHDANCE ... BREAKFAST CLUB .... FERRIS BUEHLER ... I won't be suckered into these bare bones that studios put out ... I have no problem holding out for a better version.

I'd KILL for a Trading Places SE!!! There are some scenes in the TV version that are damn funny. I'd love to see one long "complete cut" of it, incorporating both the theatrical version plus the additional TV scenes.
