I'm looking for the name of a movie. All I remember is that it has to do with the devil or someone wanting to become the devil or immortal. The scene that I remember is towards the end of the movie, the man (bad guy) thought he was becoming invincible or the devil, he was all in flames and he's laughing thinking that he's being transformed, but all of a sudden he realized that the flames were killing him and that the spell wasn't working. Also there's a scene at the very end (I think) where a woman is on top of a man having sex with him and there were flames and her look was as if she was devilish or something like that.

Anyways I don't even recall if it was a good or bad movie, but if someone can help I would appreciate it!

It's funny because many people have asked me if I have seen "The Ninth Gate" and I say no. I had no clue that it was this movie.

In all my years of movie fandom I've yet to be asked that question. How strange.

This reminds me I should finally buy this too... it's always so cheap, and I loves me most Polanski.

Well, one conversation that I recall was around Pirates of the Caribbean. Someone said that Johnny Depp is a good actor and that they were a fan of his work, so I said that I didn't know him other then in POTC but that I've heard his name before. The person started mentionning movies including "The Ninth Gate" so I said no I haven't seen any of them. It's funny that the movie that I was looking for starrs Johnny Depp and is the Ninth Gate.

Alot of people hated this movie- but I liked Depp as the unscrupulous book dealer. The audio commentary by Polanski is quite funny as well.

I may have mentioned this before, and if so I apologize, but there is a book that I have found to be an INVALUABLE resource in this area. It has given me many titles to track down, some available on DVD, some not yet. You would do well to pick up a copy of this book.
