Great news! I haven't bought the current version because my parents own it, and thought I would wait for a special edition to add it to my own collection. I'm glad to hear it's been announced!

there was also talk about bringing it back to theaters(were NO ONE saw it, think about it, you either rented it or saw it on TBS) for a small run, hope that still goes on!

Great news! I've been waiting a long time for the SE, I haven't seen the film since it was in the theater.

I hope they don't plaster "Tenth Anniversary" on the cover.

I saw it too... actually snuck into the thing. I certainly wasn't dissapointed. Although, all of my friends thought I was crazy when I raved about the film, because the trailers and TV spots sucked so bad.

You know, I saw this in the theaters as well. The girl I was dating at the time read the short story and was really looking forward to seeing it... glad I went!!!

However, this is the same girl that drug me to The Little Rascals movie because her little sister wanted to see it. I'm still scarred.

This is good news! I bought the barebones version because I was tired of waiting on the SE. The novella by Stephen King is definately one of his best as well. Guess I'll be double dipping this one.

I'll buy the SE because friends always had a copy of the existing release. There's no way I could pass up on my late grandfather's favorite movie. I love it too.

Great movie and I'll buy the SE, but the flick has become so overexposed on cable that it will probably be a loooong time before I ever sit down and watch it from beginning to end.

Here's a look at the artwork for the 2-disc edition and the deluxe edition:

I like the look of the deluxe edition, but I don't know that I'll be willing to shell out the extra cash for the soundtrack, a book, and the packaging. I'll probably just go with the 2-disc set.

This is one of my favorite movies of all-time. It was really hard not buying the previous release.

I will buy the regular two-disc. I see no need in the soundtrack or collectible book. Also, not a fan of the coverart, but that is not going to stop me from buying this. Can't Wait!

Drew Struzan's cover art kicks ass! Since I already have Thomas Newman's excellent score on CD, I'll be skipping the deluxe version and just go with the two-disc set. At least this time, Warner is giving us a choice, instead of forcing us to buy the three-disc soundtrack version to get the extras, like they did with Mystic River.

Is there a release date on this, or am I lame because that's already been posted on this thread? Did I miss it? Or has it not been posted, and I am just lame on general principle?

I get the feeling the 2-disc set fits inside that deluxe case?

I never got the Shawshank score, so the extra CD and book is a nice addition, but the full-sized art is nice too.

Hope that's the outer box that holds everything inside.

I don't think that the 2 Disc set fits inside of the Limited Edition packaging. My guess would be that it's a 3 disc digipak ala Mystic River.

I really did not like the design of that packaging so I will probably go with the 2 disc one. I really don't want another soundtrack that I am not going to listen to.

I almost bought the barebones version about a year ago, but there was a rumor here that the SE is on the way so I decided to wait a little longer, so now there are 2 new SEs to get on october 5th

Will buy either one depending on price, the coverart is bad, would've been nicer without all the faceshots, but this is great news for this set!

I like the cover art. At least the floating heads are drawn. I'd definitely go for the vanilla 2-disc set, because like most, I'd never listen to the CD, and the booklet isn't worth it.

Did anyone hear read the dvdfile report on the upcoming SE, they talk about this film having a "troubled production?" First i have ever heard, anyone hear about this? Whats the gossip? Which star was acting bratty?

Actually, Thomas Newman's score is magnificent, one of the best of the 90's. Since I already have it, though, I'm just getting the 2-disc set.
