Any updates on DUEL?
Last rumor I heard had the DVD release date this month. Is this confirmed, or is Universal still keeping us in the dark? Please, ANY verified information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not positive, but I do believe it's still slated for this year sometime. Not sure exactly when though.

I firmly believe that the people behind Duel and Ed Wood have a standing bet on who can fuck with us the longest.

The only thing I know for certain about Duel is the movie would be solely responsible for Rimmer's scar.
(I apologize for the unwarrented reference. If anyone is perplexed, please ingore me as my family would...)

Yes, I heard that Duel was indefinitely suspended for ever - the absolute earliest release being an HD remaster in 2006 for it's 35th Anniversary, and this is unconfirmed by everyone, including Universal, who say that beacuse they can't make up their mind as to put a cropped widescreen theatrical cut, or the theatrical cut in open matte, or the TV version (in widescreen or open matte), or both on one disc, or two releases, or a bare bones, and then a Special Edition (that gets delayed again) followed by the "Spielberg On The Box Set" that includes the first Columbo episode, Night Terror and a couple of other Uni/movies of the week...so they've just decided to hold back until their people speak to Steve's people and vice-versa until a deal is struck so that everyone can make as much moolah as possible, except the fans who will need to buy every version (including the theatrical Special Edition re-cut, featuring new scenes with an all-new CGI truck and the first ever peek inside to see the driver)! Needless to add, those added scenes will eventually be cut out by the director around three years later for another release, the definitive "Collectors' Edition".
I think georgeep should just break down and buy the one he private messaged me about a few days ago. ![]()
