Twilight Zone: The Movie - Ever Been Released on DVD?
Just wondering. I have been seeing this movie for sale on E-Bay, and I'm pretty sure that these are bootlegs. Has this movie ever been released in Region 1.
If not, does anyone know if it has any plans in the future?

Aprt from the ill-fated Landis episode, I'd love this for Joe Dante's mad animation-inspired segment, the John Lithgow-goes-mad-on-a-plane sequence and Spielberg's Kick The Can (which inspired the Amazing Stories series).
As afr as I know, this only made it to laserdisc in a full-frame version, so they are very likely bootlegs. No news on a DVD, and given the troubled production and the fact that none of the filmmakers look on this as a particularly glittering highlight of their careers, I wouldnt expect it soon.

Thanks for the feedback, BubbleGumUK.
I thought they might be bootlegs, but it doesn't hurt to verify. As for the release of the DVD, I'm aware of the problems, and I can just see the lawsuits awakening should this ever be brought to DVD. Oh well, one can only hope.

Yeah, I think I remember reading at one point that this is caught up in legal limbo over some different issues. I doubt we'll get it soon.

It really is a shame.
I have the laserdisc, and I honestly feel that the version of Kick the Can on there is better than the original TV episode. Scatman is absolutely wonderful in this.

How much you guys want to bet that the "legal issues" are all about the music clips from the beginning and end. "Hey! I love Creedence!"

Maybe the reason it's not out yet is Warner Brother's hasn't decided if they want to cover the deaths if they include any special features.
Or Spielberg hasn't decided how he wants to fuck up the release yet. ("I've always regretted having them kick the can. Kicking is too aggressive. In my new CGI updated version they will gently tap the can")Best moment: "That's my sister. She had an accident."

I DO know that Spielberg has completely and totally disavowed this film. The accident, and subsequent legal issues surrounding it, caused Steven to not only walk away from the movie BUT he also ended his long-time friendship with John Landis. SS is still very bitter over everything that transpired with this film, so don't expect either his cooperation OR his encouragement in this getting a DVD release. In fact, WB might be better off licensing this title away, especially if SS feels WB is doing him a favor by not releasing it.

Yeah, lar, that's what I was alluding to in my post.
He's still pretty pissed about the whole thing, something that even WB subbing it out to someone else might even annoy him. I'd rather get Empire Of The Sun out from them first in a nice two-disc - then let them get him annoyed!

That Lithgow chapter chilled me to my inner core as a kid! To make things worse, I later watched the original b & w version from the TV show. And when the kid from THE HOGAN FAMILY removes his sisters mouth? Forget it, damn that scared me. It didn't help that my older brother said that he could do that to me. Great movie though with one of the best opening scenes ever with Aykroyd and Brooks!
