Which Kill Bill DVD(s) for you?

Since I'm pondering over this question myself, I thought I'd put together a poll to see which version(s) you would go for.

Note: I posted Which Kill Bill(s) will you buy? by accident.

I'm swinging toward the Japanese uncut version of Volume 1 as I don't mind buying Volumes 1 and 2 seperately (it would be nice to know what they are planning for a possible combined version DVD release though).

My personal preference would be an NTSC release that has the US/UK theatrical cut with the option to seamlessly branch the 'uncut' footage.

There is now.

I've tried make it as generic as possible to keep it concise and to cover most scenarios.

I voted "Wait for a box set containing both Volumes"

I'd like to try and go that route to save a bit of cash, but I'm not sure I can be that patient. I might end up like Frank Gunn and just buy any version released in Region 1.

I'll get the original theatrical versions seperately, to recreate what I saw at the movies. Then, when they combine the SE's into either a box set, or cut the thing back into one long movie, I will get that as well.

I'll be picking up the individual Region 1 releases, as well as the Region 1 set whenever it comes out. I'm also planning on picking up the uncut Japanese version (if I have the money, I'll try to get the premium set, but chances are I'll just have to settle for the regular release).

I can't wait to get this movie in my collection

I've got the R1 disc & the standard Japanese disc on order & depending on exactly what the boxset contains i'll probably pick that up as well.

Damn... I had no idea there was going to be so many versions (but you think I'd learn by now).

Sorry to be redundant (especially if this has been answered already in another thread that I haven't located), but am I to assume that the US SE release will NOT have extra footage integrated into the film, and that you'd have to pick up the Japanese Version to get it?

Why must they make things so complicated for the DVD nerd?

I don't think this adds much "complication" at all. I see the DVD "nerd" as being an astute consumer who is very aware of what they are buying and are confident they are spending their money wisely.

Peace...

Well now... that is a positive spin.

I just wish I didn't have to be so "astute" all the time... for once I'd like to walk into MEGA-ELECTRONICS CHAIN 9000 and pick up my favorite movies without having to research if it is "the right one" each and every time...

But I also want a troop of organ-grinder monkeys (clad in wee kung-fu outfits) following me while signing my theme song... Bread's "I wanna Make it with you"... every time I set foot outside, and I don't think that's gonna happen either.

So, in light of that, I shall continue to pick the collective brain that is the 'File forum for advice.

Here are some details on the premium boxset:
Off-World Colonies thread
YesAsia.com premium set details

YesAsia have currently sold out (already). I was debating whether to get this premium version and yesterday it was available to pre-order, now it's not. D'oh!

As far as I know (so far) the only uncut footage is the 'House of Blue Leaves' scene presented in colour which is only available on the Japanese release (both regular and premium versions).

It's also speculated that the Japanese version of Volume 1 will be presented in DTS and will have better extras than the other regions.

Actually, I know this guy, right, and he has a troop of trained organ-grinder monkeys, right, and he totally owes me a favor.

When do you want them to start?

Since I don't have much immediate interest in seeing Kill Bill, I'll just wait for a future box set if I decide to see the movie someday.

Since I was able to get my dvd player to region free. I am going to pick up the Japanese release of KB & tell Miramax to kiss my ass with their censorship tactics

Since an uncut version is highly unlikely in the US unless it can get an R rating, since Miramax has that pathetic anti-NC-17/unrated policy. They won't even release seemless branched dvds with R & Unrated versions on it. Which would be the next best thing,if they refused to release Unrated only altogether!

Also not only will the Blue Leaves be in color,it will have even more gruesome violence than the R version & be a couple minutes longer, with more violence in other scenes as well. I am soo there, screw the MPAA!

Ultimately the Box, but some appetizers until then...

April 13th will mean a day and date handing over of +/- $17.99 for the R1 theatrical release. By September, when I suspect Vol. 2 will be avialable for home comsumption, we *should* have box set news if they are going to try and get it out for Chrismas.

If the box set is a lock for this year, I will pass on the Vol. 2 single (though I will rent it) and wait for the box. If there is no confirmation (or trusted rumor) of a Christmas 2004 box, then I will go ahead and buy the Vol. 2 theatrical.

No matter what, I will own the box set the day it's released and, like Lord of the Rings, I doubt I will ever look at the theatrical release(s) again, so they will get sold or gifted.

Well for me i shall be buying all the Region 1 releases. So if that mean i have to buy the Bare Bones Kill Bill Vol. I & II DVD's. Then so be it. LOTR did the same thing and they too got my money so why change now i guess. It was on my Top 10 list of last year.

For now I've just pre-ordered the Japanese regular version (premium set has sold out) and I'm not sure what I'll do regarding buying a 'cut' theatrical release. Either way I'm awaiting details on a box set.

The starting bid is more than YesAsia's normal price. I knew this would be milked on eBay.

I only really like the sword and it's not like it comes with any extra discs or content like the LotR EE Gift Sets so the price put me off pre-ordering the premium set. In comparison it was twice as much than I've paid for my R1 LotR EE Gift Sets and your not getting much extra.

Right now I have the R1 version as well as the Japaanese limited box set on order. If there is a different cut of Vol. 2 I'll probably do the same.
