Cary Grant classic: Bringing Up Baby being restored

Cary Grant fans may have forgotten what would have been his 100th birthday (Jan. 18, 1904), but they can still celebrate by watching his films. Some new arrivals due June 1 in Warner Home Video's The Cary Grant Collection are Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, My Favorite Wife, Destination Tokyo and Night and Day ($49.92 in a five-disc box set or $19.97 individually). Each has been restored for DVD and includes extras; for instance, several have radio broadcasts that feature Grant.

During the month of June, Grant also will be star of the month on Turner Classic Movies. TCM and Warner have partnered to create Cary Grant: A Class Apart, a 90-minute documentary that the network will broadcast beginning June 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT. Warner will release it on DVD next year, along with two more Grant classics, Gunga Din and Bringing Up Baby, currently being restored by the studio.
I can only hope that Warner makes the effort to turn this into a 2-Disc'er rather than the single disc variety. Either way, pretty exciting stuff. Looks like one more people can mark off their MIA list.

Cool! One of the best "screwball" comedies ever made. Not to be missed!

Excellent news! I also hope that Bringing Up Baby will get the 2 disc treatment. I'll also have to take advantage of some of the June releases.

This collection of Cary Grant movies; are they going to be released as a box set only, or as individual DVD's?

I'd love to know, because I want Mr. Blandings... and My Favourite Wife.

Both are our favourites.

Edit: Never mind. Just read the fine print again.

I'd go so far as to say it's the best screwball comedy ever made. Fantastic in every way.

Also good to hear of the new documentary to air on TCM. I can only imagine it will be as good as the book of the same name. One of the best biographies I've had the pleasure of reading.

Finally, some more greater Grant films are being released. Gunga Din is pretty exciting news there, too. That was one of "those" films that I wanted to buy when I first purchased a DVD player... only to find it wasn't released at the time. We will certainly be buying the boxed set and then both Baby and Gunga Din a year later.

This is one of the few titles on VHS that I have not upgraded to DVD (due to lack of availability) and the only VHS title I've lost... I was hoping to get it this year, but this one's definitely worth waiting for! Hope it gets a great treatment.

It comes full circle:
From DVDAnswers:

Quote:
Title: Bringing Up Baby
Starring: Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn
Released: 1st March 2005
SRP: $26.99

Further Details
Warner has also made available artwork for a special edition of Bringing Up Baby which again stars Cary Grant alongside Katharine Hepburn. The two-disc release will be available to own from the 1st March next year, and should set you back somewhere in the region of $26.99. The film itself will be presented in 1.37:1 full frame along with an English Mono track. English, French and Spanish subtitles will also be provided. I'm afraid Warner has yet to release details on the extra material, but we'll bring you some news on that very shortly. For now though, here's our first look at the official region one package artwork:
I added Katharine, because I figure that even hacks like her deserve top billing.

Here is the Cover-art. Bravo on the Digipack.

Wow! A 2-disc SE at that! Thank you George Feltenstein! This is getting some seriously loving treatment from WB to be sure. Truly nice to see them doing this for so many of their black & white classics and not just the big titles or three-strip Technicolor productions.

Fantastic news! This film is right up there with African Queen on my 'most requested classics list.'
