Waiting for Waiting For Guffman
The current Vanity Faire has a feature on Christopher Guest (aka Nigel Tufnel) and, joy oh joy, mentions that work on the Guffman dvd is underway. Sixty hours of film was shot, so expect a lot of deleted scenes.

Hallelujah! I've been listening to a lot of National Lampoon Radio Hour stuff, which is only whetting my appette for more Chris Guest. The MGM Spinal Tap DVD is good for now (the only DVD I've ever bought twice), but I would LOVE to see either a whole DVD side of deleted scenes, or the option of a director's cut.
Also on my wish list: A DVD of Lemmings, as I'm pretty sure some of the shows were taped. I'd setlle for a CD of the soundtrack, as well as Radio Dinner & Goodbye, Pop. OH, I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW!!! J2, which apprently owns the rights to NatLamps' archival material, should put ALL the Radio Hours on DVD, with other archival material on the video portion of the disc, like magazine covers, some of the best artciles and short fiction, all of O'Donoghue's work, etc. etc. This stuff should be preserved for posterity! If all thr Mad magazines through 1998 can fit on 7 CD-ROMs, I'd gladly spend money on a NatLamp complete set like that. |

In a Warner Brothers chat a few months ago I took note that Waiting For Guffman is on their 2001 slate. I always thought this movie was superior to This Is Spinal Tap and I almost can't wait for the DVD. Hope Best Of Show continues the tradition!
