this series has almost had more release dates than a certain other trilogy i could mention, then been cancelled again and again. just keep your eye on dvd sites like dvdfile.com, dvdreview.com, thedigitalbits.com, and bttf.com and you'll know as soon as we do. personally, i hope to see them before christmas 2001.

I getting a weird "Planet of the Apes" vibe that these films are not coming out, not coming out, then they come out with nothing!

Actually, I heard the big reason for the delay was that Eric Stolz, who was originally cast as Marty McFly, was pissed that they were going to show footage from the film with him as Marty before his replacement by Michael J. Fox. I think he was suing the studio over it.

Yeah, but they still report a December release. Does anyone /really/ think that's going to happen?

I'm hoping! If it is, Universal should be releasing an announcement soon. Back to the Future and Goonies are two of my most looked forward to releases.

I sure as hell hope so. While there are many DVDs out or coming out that I want, my only "must-have" is Fantasia. Well, and RHPS, but that's a different story. I'd gladly add BTTF to that list. Every time I read these sites at work and get excited over some new BTTF rumor, one of my coworkers starts quietly singing "gonna go BACK in time.... gonna go BACK in time..."

Stolen from BTTF.com:
August 9, 2000 —

DVD-Inside.ch reports today that the DVDs will be released in December for Region 1, and June/July for Region 2. The site is in German, but the translation is as follows:
'Many fans have surely waited for this... the " back into the future 1-3" movies will bereleased on DVD in Germany. Universal announced [to us] to count on a release in June/July 2001. While the US DVD's will already appear in December, we will have to be patient a little longer. Specifications of the features are not known yet, however one will be able to orientate oneself with the US DVD's.'
Who knows, maybe it will hapen after all, but I'm not holding my breath
