Batman 5 Director Secured. Is It Too Late For This Franchise?
I just read that Darren Aronofsky has officially been given the go ahead to direct the next Batman movie. It will be an adaptation of Batman: Year One (a prequel of sorts) which should open up the possibility to bring back some of Batman's arch enemies like The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman..etc. Frank Miller, the writer of the Batman: Year One mini series has also been hired to help script the project.
Now what's really weird, is Warner Brothers already has ANOTHER Batman movie in development called Batman Beyond. What are your opinions? Does anybody think that going back and starting over can rejuvinate the series, or is it just going to be like beating a dead horse? ------------------ -Damian |

But there is a live action Batman Beyond movie planned. I read at cinescape that Tom Cruise may be the next batman in it. I really dont like the idea that much, i would rather see the batman year one movie made.

I don't think "Now Playing". My second post I wrote that I had realized it should probably go in the "Soapbox" area. We're not talking about anything that is currently in theaters.

IMHO, what the studio should have done with the Batman franchise all along was to hire a hip new director and hot up-and-coming star to wear the cape for each sequel after Burton's original (although I have to admit that Batman Returns has grown on me over the years and I do like it better, in many ways, than the first film). This would have served the dual goals of keeping costs down (no big names to pay big money) and putting a new spin on each follow-up.
It sounds like that's what the studio is trying to do now. The question of the hour is, Is it too late? ![]() ------------------ Wesly Moore ------------------ weslymoore@aol.com They mostly come at night. Mostly. |
