Paramount, did the whole Star Trek thing wrong. The movies, don't get me wrong, I do love the prints and sound, but they didn't do anything beyond that. Star Trek 2 should have been shown in the directors cut (which does improve the film slightly) and the terrible extra scenes from Star Trek 6 should have been cut out.

They should have done for these films what MGM did for the Bond movies. I mean, there's 19 bond films and Star Trek there's only about five films (ST 5,7,9 don't count).
They could of got some commentaries at least, which is now the Paramount trend. They think they produce DVDs or something, I don't know.

They handled the Original show with even less respect. Remember when they first brought them out and they charged $24.99? They were laughed at because they only put two episodes on a disc and they surrendered to pressure to bring the price down to $14.99.

God only knows what this terrible stuido will do to Next Generation. There's over 200 episodes! It will take years to collect if they only put two on a disc.

I see a trend here. Gee, Cobra, between the last "Jaws" thread and this one, I'd say you were a cynical guy...

In fact, here's some quotes from all of Cobra's posts in the last 30 days:

From Worst movie ever?:

Quote:
Okay, for the worst film I'd like to adress all the Fincher lovin', Fight Club DVD buyin' fellas and say that the worst film ever was Alien 3.
From Which Army of Darkness should I buy?:
Quote:
I HATE ANCHOR BAY!

They pick up great titles (Halloween, Army of Darkness) that studios don't want than exploit those films and their fans till there is no end.
From Back to the Future on DVD.....when?:
Quote:
I getting a weird "Planet of the Apes" vibe that these films are not coming out, not coming out, then they come out with nothing!
From Full frame Jaws!?!?!:
Quote:
How the hell can you even see Jaws in pan-scan, it looks like crap. Spielberg is such an idiot...
From Batman 5 Director Secured. Is It Too Late For This Franchise?:
Quote:
They should wait about ten to fifteen years like Superman and just start fresh again.
From this thread:

Quote:
God only knows what this terrible stuido will do to Next Generation. There's over 200 episodes! It will take years to collect if they only put two on a disc.
And finally, Cobra's least cynical post in the last month, from Your list of best Halloween DVDs :
Quote:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween
The Thing
Ok, so the message the first quote is from actually had a couple of happy points.

Cobra needs to lighten up, or he's gonna have a heart attack!

Sorry, didn't mean to de-rail this topic...but I just thought this was too funny...

What did I say that was so wrong Sammy?

Alien 3 did suck.

Anchor Bay tends to be exploitive.

Back to the Future DVDs are completed, yet nowhere to be found.

The Batman series does need to take about ten to fifteen years off until they could find something I'd like to call a screenwriter. A director would be nice too.

You think Paramount is a good DVD production company? Remember they were pushing Divx down our throats until they finally saw how dumb it was. They started this game late and now they're just starting to figure out that people don't want to pay $24.99 for just a movie and a trailer.

Cobra-I don't think Sam was saying you were wrong, just that you seem . . . grumpy

But hey, there's room for everybody! Except of course for habitually disrespectful assholes who don't believe others have the right to differing opinions.
I'd give examples, but they tend to get kicked off rather quickly, and I don't want to waste my time looking up their old ravings.

To get back to the original point and question of this thread, BathTub, Express of late has had distributor problems and has gotten some titles a little late. You may want to stop by a local store and see if they have them in stock, or see if they know if there were delayed.

I wrote Express not too long ago about this issue and they responded saying that they were having problems with their distributor, and know that their customers are bothered by it (I guess I was not the only one who has written them recently), and that they are working to have it all cleared up in the next few weeks. Since this is the first snag I've run into with Express, I'm leaning towards believing them and giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Cobra,

I never said you said anything wrong. But yeah, it seems that your posts are a bit on the negative side as a whole. I didn't think Alien 3 sucked, but that's my opinion. Although things like calling Spielbert an idiot just because he decides to release a P&S version of Jaws is a bit harsh.

But it was all in good fun.

I call Steven Spielberg an idiot because, when he formed SKG, he went totally Hollywood. Now he's at all the parties, hanging with the President Clinton. He's supposed to be a filmmaker and he's a total studio man now. It's depressing. Saving Private Ryan was a great film, but I see it as the last hurrah of Spielberg's career. I may be wrong, and hope I am, but I don't think he'll make another good film after that one.
I call him an idiot in terms of DVD because none of his films have gotten really good releases. DTS, and documentaries are tinker toys, He really hasn't gone all out yet on a DVD. Where's the commentary that was mentioned for Jurassic Park? Why weren't Jaws or Saving Private Ryan double discs? Why wasn't Always anamorphic?

Spielberg really hasn't convinced me that he cares about his films on DVD.

This thread has strayed way to far from its Title. If you guys want to start another thread discussion the merits/downfall of Steven Spielberg, please do so.
