Anamorphic
I know it's better to have an Anamorphic transfer for DVD. But I don't have a Widescreen TV so I can't see much of a difference if any when I watch a movie that's Anamorphic or not.
Is it just me or is this the case for everyone that doesn't have a 16:9 TV? |

The short answer is, sometimes it's you. Personally, I can tell the difference between most anamorphic and non-anamorphic transfers. But a great deal of that too depends on the quality of the transfer itself as well as the equipment you play and view it on.

lets face it, within 10 years alot of us will own 16X9 sets, i think that January or December 2006 has been set as the last month that 4:3 tvs will be produced and all brodcasts after that date will have to be in widescreen. in the words of the Joker.. "Think About The Future!"

I don't have a 16x9 TV, but I still look for anamorphic titles. Two reasons for this:
1. Someday I will have a widescreen TV when HDTV is more affordable. 2. An anamoprhic trasnfer generally means a new transfer and not a recycled LD transfer that's substandard. |
