The Universal Announcement: Will We See Back to the Future?

What do you think? Will we see Back to the Future ready for the holiday's? Or will Universal just make another announcement telling us when another announcment will be made (Confusing you, aren't I )? All we can do is hope, but what's your opinion?

No idea what it's going to be, but my wish would be for Rear Window by Christmas, and the remainder of Universal's Hitchcock catalogue within the next year -- all done as well as they've done the first three, natch.

Hell, I won't believe it until I've actually played the discs and I've pinched myself numerous times and the men in white coats haven't come to take them away. Ha ha.

It's got to be Back to the Future.

All Universal has left are those films, ET, and Schindler's List. ET probably won't come out till Spielberg releases his special edition, and Schindler is a film that will take a long time to work on; it's not an easy film to just put on DVD

Why not? Is the film made of candy or something?

Nope. It's LEGEND.

However, don't give up hope... they've announced it for a November 21 release. That's just a two-month lead time. Which means we still have a couple of months for an announcement for the theorized January date. Or even a month before they could announce a holiday-season release (which would be the smart thing to do).

Well, it's a tough film to put on DVD because it has a lot of extra material, you can't just put it on DVD overnight.

The original version of the film, according to Spielberg, was over 4 1/2 hours long. I'd imagine there would have to be a lot of deleted scenes, doucumentaries, interviews etc.

I don't expect to see BTTF for at least 6 months.

I just wish Universal will just come out and say "Up your's, your not getting them!!!" Kinda like what Lucas is doing.
At least I wont have to keep wondering when their coming out.

Well I love BTTF, as i know most of you do. But I am willing to wait as long as it takes to get a DVD that *does* have the Stoltz footage. And *all* the cut scenes. There aren't really a whole lot from what I hear.

But like a few others at Universal, the disc is totally finished already...

Well here you go, from The Digital Bits Rumor Mill:

"9/28/00

We're not sure what to make of this, but some very reliable sources are now telling us that Universal's Back to the Future Trilogy is no longer on the DVD release list for 2001. Does this mean the DVDs have been delayed, either temporarily or indefinitely? Does it mean that they might still be released yet THIS year? We just don't know at this point, but we're working to find out more as soon as we can. Stay tuned..."

Bastards...
