Yeah, I saw a ton of copies at Wal-Mart when I picked up The Matrix Revolutions. It's been available through the film's website for quite a few months now, but I never picked it up because of the hefty price tag, figuring it would be significantly cheaper when "officially" released. Well, it's a bit cheaper, but not much - $44.95 at my local Wal-Mart for the 3-disc set. It's strange though. I don't ever remember hearing an official announcement or anything at all talking about the release. I didn't even know it was out until I saw it, and I generally pride myself about knowing what movies are coming out when because like a number of people around here I pay really close attention to it. But this one slipped right under my radar .

Thanks, bjh_18. I did finally notice one website as saying the street date was April 6. The release of the DVD went just like the release of the movie. Under the radar. I may rent this after seeing that price. I don't think any movie can compare to "The Passion" now. I think I can wait for that release on DVD.

Didn't even know it had a release date. I think it was produced by a Canadian company in Toronto. I was very surprised when it was released that my theater actually got the movie (10 reels long and only 4-7 others in my area got the movie as well) I also can't believe that its a 3 disc release set. From what i heard the movie wasn't too bad and very faithful to . . .well the gospel of John. Trying to find on my Canadian store websites and get nothing.

Best Buy $57

While it doesn't surprise me that this title is available at Wal-Mart, it does counter the original information that was supplied to video buyers.

I am looking right at the original ad slick that came to the video store where I work and it says in HUGE letters:

"The Gospel Of John is urgent, compelling, and relevant. Order THIS RENTAL EXCLUSIVE in time for Easter"

There is also another section that says:

"NO RETAIL MASS MERCHANT SELL-THRU. NO PPV"

Either they changed their minds on this or certain chains were able to obtain it from their distributors anyway.
