I was actually hoing for something even more subtle. You know like that color of cover and the words "The Passion" on the front.

I'll be buying either way.

God would have it no other way I'm sure. So Gibson better follow through on that.

The theatrical poster art is fine with me, although I would have rather seen either the teaser poster:

or, even better, one of the alternate posters:

I personally like the first alternate the best.

I like the cover. I think it looks good. As I type this I'm entering another religious title to Ventura Distribution's website, and it has a clear-as-day Jesus on the cross image right on the cover (its The Gospel According to Jesus for anyone that's wondering). So I think having a cross image would have been acceptable, but Fox is just choosing to play it safe. In any case, I don't think it matters at all what is on the cover; people are going to buy this in droves.

In Aramaic or English? I would guess he could do it in ANY language depending on the region.

I think the whole commentary, features, menus,
all should be in armaiac. that would be great!

I have no plans on picking this one up, so they can use whatever cover they want.

Thanks for you input Phreak. I'll have to make note of that.

I agree that it should have been a little more subtle, but it still works for me. I'm really interesting to see what they're going to do for extras, though.

I did enjoy this film on a few levels, but more likely than not I won't feel the need to own it. I'd rather have The Last Temptation of Christ...

last temptation

I highly recommend the "Last Temptation Of Christ" DVD,
especially with the option of hearing
Peter Gabriel's "The Passion" in 5.1.
Killer soundtrack to a badass movie.
A little pricey, but worth it.

I'm sure Christ loves knowing some people find a movie depicting his brutal death "badass"...

Plus, "Passion" won't have the Criterion label across the top!

Last Temptation all the way!

The absence of any smiley and the repetitiveness of the joke makes this come off as much more annoying than I hope it was meant to be... be sure to let me know.

In any event, my Mother is a huge religous nut, and she showed me Last Temptation a while ago... it's a much better film, IMO... Do I buy a lot of Criterions? Yep. Does the collecting aspect have something to do with that? Probably. I like collecting things, and I like the type of films CC puts out... wow I must be crazy for buying them!

Maybe he does and maybe he doesn't.

But what does that have to do with manicsounds' comments, which originate from Tokyo, a city which, last I checked, was not in America?

Hmmm... yes well I forgot to read the location of everyone on the forum that day... "my bad". Post edited for accuracy, yet the point remains valid.

I'm not sure it does. manicsounds sounded nicely tongue-in-cheek with the adjective choice of "badass" and the way you phrased your comment "a movie depicting his brutal death" applies moreso to The Passion fo the Christ (which focused solely on this in "depicting" this chapter in his life) whereas his death was but one of MANY parts in The Last Tempation of Christ (the movie, and Peter Gabriel score, manicsounds is referring to) and is not considered nearly as "brutal" as the The Passion of the Christ.
Or maybe I'm inferring a mixup that's not really there? And maybe I need some sleep? Which I shall start doing very soon...
