The Man With No Name Trilogy

Well, I hope I won't regret it later, but I picked up Sergio Leone's The Man With No Name Trilogy (Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) today. I know about the upcoming The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Special Edition and plan to pick it up as well so I can have both versions of that film.

Anyone know if there is anything terribly wrong with Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars more besides Fistful being a 2 sider with Pan & Scan on one side and Widescreen on the other and neither film being Anamorphic? I'm hoping they will redo those two on DVD to match The Good......., but I haven't heard anything at all about it. Anyone have any news?

Thanks.

Nothing has been announced at the moment by MGM
Although many fans would love to see these rereleased too,
and the mysteriously MIA Leone movie,
"A Fistful of Dynamite"

I have all three discs (bought separately). There are no regrets in owning any of them. Mediocre sources and transfers but not terrible. I'm sure the two "Dollars" will be redone some time in the future but nothing imminent.

I read recently that all three films were restored at the same time.

TGTBATU is the first out - probably to pay for the restorations - the others are more than certainly forthcoming.

As much as I'd love to get the new set, I'm waiting until that inevitably happens.

The trilogy is worth owning just because the films are so good, but they're probably the worst-quality DVDs I own. A Fistful of Dollars has a very poor transfer and a very thin soundtrack. For a Few Dollars More can boast the same, and in addition, the soundtrack isn't properly synched with the picture, so you see people falling down dead from a gunshot and then you hear the gunshot after. Needless to say, this gets annoying very quickly. The Good the Bad and the Ugly is the only decent transfer/audio track in the set. It's by no means good, but is much more watchable than the other two. I'm praying that they get a rerelease like TGTB&TU just did.

Can you post a link if you find the article again. That is great news. I hope they do rerelease the other two. The only thing I wish they did with the upcoming The Good,..... DVD was to use seamless branching to included the original version. If they redo the other two films, I'll probably have to keep two DVD's for each film since I don't want to get rid of the original The Good,.....DVD and since they are in a set. Maybe I could just get rid of the other two if they are redone and put the new releases in the box.

I've has the Man with No Name trilogy for a while now. I sold TGTB&TU, I'm hoping it's packaged in a slim double amaray so it will fit in the originals place(This kind http://www.inetdvd.com/store/tmp_pro...03.asp?id=4824 ). Does anyone know if this will be so?
