Please help identify sub-sea city movie
Unfortunately the thread title already contains almost everything I remember from this not-seen-since-childhood movie. This sub-sea city is housed within giant glass domes and as far as I remember the designs have an Victorian era air. I guess the movie is from the late 50's (including some synchronized swimming scenes?!). Thanks.

Probably the dreadful "Captain Nemo and the Underwater City" (1969) starring Robert Ryan and Chuck Connors.
IMDB's entry Fan page with some photos I saw this in the theatre as a kid and thought it sucked then. Something like "Atragon" was a lot more fun to me. Come to think of it I believe it double billed with "2001: a Space Odyssey" when that went into general 35mm release, which was the only reason I went to see it. That's it!! Thanks, NotaNumber!
Hopefully its charm-factor will outweigh it's dreadfulness-factor, once I can revisit this on DVD.

Well, maybe it isn't that dreadful. Being paired with "2001" in a Saturday matinee filled with a bunch of kids running up and down the aisles didn't help it much on my scale of appreciation. I know the other kids loved it and hated "2001".
I'd seen "2001" the year before in Cinerama and couldn't believe anybody would pick Captain Nemo over Space Odyssey. |

Yeah, definitely Captain Nemo And The Underwater City.
Got all excited there when I thought I'd be able to help out! BTW, this is a great, cheesy childhood memory movie. Approach it as nothing more and you'll have fun.
