I have to disagree with the statement above. I found myself laughing out loud several times.

How about if you were stuck inside because the weather was just dreadful, & HBO was showing it in ten minutes? Maybe you were even in bed with a cold.

No. See what Showtime or any other channel is showing. Or re-watch the first one which was actually funny.
Although I will say that Scary Movie 2 is worse than 3, so there's that little bit of consolation.

I watched this yesterday....one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I dozed off a few times and only found myself laughing once or twice....("I call her Linda") It was a waste of time. I'm just glad I got to take it home from work for free for the night.

Saw it in the theatre.

Not as good as the first two.

And the first two aren't even worth buying.

So, no, not worth a buy.

You can't compare SM3 with the other two, it's like a movie on its own. The humor is that of Zucker style, not like the sex-orientated humor that was in the Wayans ones.

A lot of people aren't familiar with Zucker humor, and they went in expecting the the type of film that was the first two. Many were disappointed as a result. I loved it.

Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 are two guilty pleasures for me. I have to admit that watching the 3rd film I turned off my brain and I still was quite dissapointed. Honestly I didn't even chuckle till halfway through the film. George Carlin and Leslie Neilson try to save the film but, ultimately it isn't as funny as the first two and not funny enough for me to warrant a dvd purchase.

It's not worth owning. I watched it and don't remember laughing once.

It's worth a rental just for Leslie Nielson's deadpanning "Send flowers to their bitches and hos."

Disliked it, liked it better than the first two, but still could have done without it. Will re-watch the DVD because I hate myself.

I am interested in owning it, however I am going to wait and see if a box set is released after Scary Movie 4 is released.

I actually liked it the best out of the three. Didn't stop laughing the entire time. If you liked Airplane or The Naked Gun you'll like Scarey Movie III.

Note: I love Airplane! and The Naked Gun, but detested the very tired and unfunny Scary Movie 3. I'd still say to proceed with caution.

I'm surprised they didn't put out a boxset of all 3,
wasn't the tagline for scary movie 3
"All great trilogies come in threes"? [pretty funny]

So they should have for those 'fans' a Scary Movie Trilogy,
line the boxset up nicely with the Naked Gun Trilogy
and even the Home Alone Trilogy on the dvd shelf.

Wonder why the studio didnt decide to cash in?

As has been mentioned, perhaps it's because they may be waiting until Scary Movie 4 comes to DVD:

As multiple films go, usually the first one is the best. Then as the series progresses the film themselves degrade. Always keep that in mind when prejudging a film series.

Yes, there are exceptions to that rule, LOTR, for example.

Back to topic. Keep in mind, Scary Movie might be running out of ideas, or of movies that its target audience would have also seen. They can't spoof movies that their target audience has not viewed, the movie would loose it's pinch.

Also keep in mind that the movie is no longer a Wayans project, but is a Zucker brain child now.

So taking those three points into consideration, I'd say that the average person will want to make Scary Movie 3 a rental first. Or, wait until it's for sale on "Previously Viewed" at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video and pick it up on one of those "2 for" or "3 for" offers.

It is a must buy for fans of the series, completists, band wagon jumpers, Pamela Anderson fans, or people like me.

And in case you are wondering, in comes in a non-amaray keep case, with a two-sided one page insert. Chapter stops on one side, and an ad for "My Baby's Daddy" on the other. Usually when you buy a movie previously viewed, the insert is gone. Now that inserts are becoming less and less the norm, I don't feel so bad (thinking I am gonna miss an informative booklet) picking up a movie used.

The fact that 2 had both David Cross AND Chris Elliot was enough for me to buy it. Now, if only the footage of the original Exorcist parody with Brando would've been included...

The Exorcist parody was actually enjoyable. And as much as I love Cross and Elliot, they can't draw me to see it again.
