City Of God arrived today so 'll start this Look Inside with the menu system, and then tonight when I get home, I'll post box pictures.

The disc starts with the Coming Soon previews for Dirty Pretty Things and Magdeline Sisters, then the non moving main menu appears.

How come you get City of God 3 weeks before it's supposed to be released? That's so unfair! When I saw this film in the theaters half way thru I got scared it might be the greatest film ever made. It is the greatest film of this century.

I'm slightly disappointed to see that the Brazillian R4 version is much more loaded than the Mirimax R1 disc.
Perhaps I need to own both.

I don't know if its worth importing for the extras, I am assuming the commentary is in Portuguese as well as many of the features.

It seems that NOTHING is different between the recalled version
and this one coming out on June 8th. I was hoping for some more extras.

The Brazilian R4 is definetly a better buy with nicer packaging and nicer extras. (R-2 Japan has the same features as the Brazil, but no English subs)

The biggest extra on the R1 (and UK and Australia versions)
is the "News From A Personal War" documentary,
which is unavailable on the 2-disc version.

Highly well done 50 minute documentary showing both sides of the war:
the Favellas and the Government. City Of God only showed the side of the Favellas but did not choose to show the side of where the government and the police of Rio stood. The documentary is highly indispensable, but I did wish that Miramax put on some making-ofs and trailers too.

I watched the R4 version, and although I don't speak Portuguese, I didn't have a problem with a good portion of the extras.
