...you said 'humor'? ...here's your 'humor' (from the IMDb 'Alternate versions' site):
"The movie had to be re-cut five times in order to achieve an R-rating. Most significant cuts include graphic sexual activity during the climactic orgy sequence and the death of a character named Annette whose death is supposedly the longest death in horror movie history, originally lasting over five and a half minutes which showed her body slowly sliding down a pane of glass while the footage would intercut with actions happening around the town. The scene is reportedly now only a minute and a half and was completely reshot. The victim is now slashed across the throat and pushed through the window pane." ...sounds like great 'fun' when and if they add this scene as an outtake to the DVD release... ! ! |

Hendrik,
From what I understand, the horror and gore was supposed to be "over the top" much like in Peter Jackson's "Dead Again." And, like the "Scream" movies, it's meant to make fun of many horror movie cliches, most notably that virgins never die in horror movies. In "Cherry Falls," a killer is specifically targeting virgins, so every teenager has to have sex in order to be "safe." It reminds me of an old Steve Martin routine. Steve explains to the audience that there's a convention of plumbers in the audience. He then does a "joke" specifically geared to the plumbers, and is filled with so much techiniical jargon, only plumbers would get it, and when nobody really laughs, Steve does a double take and asks "Were the plumbers supposed to be THIS show...?" "Cherry Falls" is like the plumber's joke. It's a spoof of horror movies only diehard fans of horror movies will truly be able to appreciate, which means that it will still be filled with the blood and guts horror fans relish. It also means it probably won't be as commercial as, say, "Scary Movie" which was a pop-culture spoof many people could "get" even if they weren't fans of horror movies. |
