paramount releasing a fourth DTS title. DTSheads embrace and prepare...

paramount to release Star Trek: Generations 2-disc in dts audio format. SSSWWWEEEET. i usually don't post topic, but isn't about time paramount recognized the audio format? i mean, TOP GUN would sound like the shiznet! now, i do realize some dts mixes are done subpar, and i don't mean compressed, because compressed dts audio, when mixed properly (using full surround capabilities) still sounds great. i'm not trying to start an arguement on DD vs. DTS, that topic's a little too played out. i'm just glad paramount, though slow to the go, is giving a chance to the "audio upgrade". back to subpar DTS mixing. you ever wonder why most talkie movies get DTS over the action movies, and when some action movies get DTS, they're pretty front heavy. or when deep bass comes in to play, the sound kind of drowns out for a few seconds? a friend of mine explained that that action movies with heavy bass and detailed surround effects take up a lot of disc space, therefore forcing the mixers to compress the sound. he went into more details, but i more or less drowned it out once he said that even when compressed to allow for more disc space, it's usually the case of just lazy-ass mixers. man, i went way off track on paramount's DTS "beta testing" so to speak. actually i'm kind of anxious on paramount's future releases, especially their big bang action movies. DTSheads, here's to hoping. i'm sorry, what was i babbling about... =)

Well we don't need 2 threads for the DTS news. Since the other one has more detail of the upcoming release i shall close this thread and ask for the discussion to continue here please.

Thanks
