Rounders - Collector's Edition - Sept. 7

Didn't really expect this to happen, but I guess they're cashing in on the poker craze:

from dvdanswers.com

Title: Rounders
Starring: Matt Damon
Released: 7th September 2004
SRP: $19.99

Further Details
Miramax Home Entertainment has kindly sent over some official artwork for this brand new collector's edition release of Rounders which stars the likes of Matt Damon, Famke Janssen, Martin Landau, John Malkovich, Gretchen Mol and Edward Norton. The film is a story of passion, risk, and the extreme price of friendship, and will be available to own in collector's edition form from the 7th September this year. Retail will be set at around $19.99. I'm afraid that we currently have no details on any possible extra material at this stage.

I really liked Rounders when I first saw it a few years ago, so I'll probably see about picking this one up. I really like the coverart .

The big question is if this has a new anamorphic transfer, or is just a release of the old disc in a new package. I hope "All New DVD Edition" means new transfer.

Great film!

I'm not a fan of the cover art. I don't mind the whole 'deck of cards' background, but the photoshoped floating hands kinda creep me out. I'm not a fan of the cheesy blured vegus background wither.

I'll still pick it up as long as it's an anamorphic transfer. I'll just use the cover art from my previous edition.

i can appreciate them trying to do a card theme with the cover but i don't think they did a very good job of it. i'm just hoping that it includes some quality supplements. if its only an anamorphic transfer i'll probably hold off on the upgrade.

It better be anamorphic. I don't want this to be like Ransom that was released in March. There should be no reason that any release now days isn't anamorphic.

I didn't pick up the first release, so I will gladly buy this if the transfer and extras pan out correctly.

I love the artwork, I do hope although that this new disc will be presented 16x9 unlike the previous disc, and will have a fair share amount of extras cause this movie deserves good treatment.

This was a very good film and I can't wait for an anamorphic DVD

Also getting the re-release treatment on September 7th is Rounders, the little-seen Matt Damon and Edward Norton drama. Remastered in 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen, extras include two audio commentaries, with director John Dahl, screenwriters David Levien and Brian Koppelman, and Norton, and the second with a team of professional Poker players, the original making-of and "How to Play Poker" featurettes, a "Heads Up Texas Hold 'Em" interactive game, and theatrical trailers. List price goes for $19.95.
Sounds really nice to me, and at a very reasonable price. Probably can pick it up for $15 or less on release, and $10 or less soon after.

Pretty cool that Edward Norton is involved with the commentary.

For some reason I don't think real poker pros would hold up cards and chips at you... "look what we got mutha-fucko... some cards... and some chips! Woot!"

Other than that, I'm glad this is coming... one of those bare-bones releases I almost bought ten times or more...

I was watching the World Poker Tour on ESPN during All Star game commercials and they had commercials for the current DVD release of Rounders. Pretty sneaky.
