Resident Evil: Deluxe Edition/Christine: Special Edition

From Creature-Corner..

"First off, you see here the cover art for Resident Evil: Deluxe Edition. That's due to hit the streets on September 7th, a mere three days before it's sequel hits theaters. Coincidence? Um, no."

"And finally, the one I've been waiting for, the cover for John Carpenter's Christine: Special Edition. I couldn't find any info on a release date yet, but I'm sure if the box art is out now there's a good chance we'll see it this fall."

Can we expect a boxed set edition of Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, after 2 years?

Curious to see the specs on both of these, as I love both movies. I do not own Christine yet. Good thing I held off.

I recently saw some 'Deluxe Ed.' of Spider-Man in stores to tie in with the release of part 2, I hope this new RE is packed with extras like Spidey, even though RE wasnt the Spidey blockbuster. Lets hope its a director's cut/original NC 17 cut.

What did they add to the RE: deluxe version? I never expected them to make one when I first bought it. I liked this movie a lot, and I expect big things of the sequel, but I seriously doubt it's worth double dipping.

Sadly i have held out all this time for the Deluxe of whatever edition of Resident Evil they would release again. After reading some dvd site reviews and other board users reviews i decided to hold out once they mentioned a Director's Cut. It was mentioned in the audio commentary and people kept saying a new dvd would be out soon. Well about 2 years late ri hope it was worth it.

I had no idea that a Christine SE was in the works, what a pleasant surprise! Can't say i'm too fussed about the cover art though.Think i much prefer the bare bones sleeve.

christine is in both OAR and in full screen and even though its not mentioned on the dvd disc or the case it is already anamorphic (my power dvd player on my pc automatically plays annamorphic movies in the 16x9 mode and christine plays in that mode)

I bought my RE disc used at Blockbuster, so if there's enough added to a SE of it, I wouldn't be against double-dipping on it.

We've been wanting Christine, but haven't taken the plunge yet, so a SE of it would definitely be worth waiting a few more months for.

I seem to be in the minority...but I think CHRISTINE is one of Carpenter's very best films, even though he apparently isn't fussy about the final cut.

The only thing they are not bringing over from the old release to the new one is a Slipknot music video.

In all honesty, why is there an alternate ending? I think the ending for RE is probably the only real redeeming factor about it, and is quite Carpenter-esque. I might not have been big on the movie, but the ending was quite satisfying.

But if I could get it on sale for around $15, I might pick it up. (And will if it features a free ticket to the second movie.)

This is from IMBD so who knows how much truth there is to it, right off the bat is says 2 disc SE I dont think the deluxe set will be 2 disc but i could be wrong..

"2-Disc Special Edition DVD includes an alternate ending, which plays six months after the incident at Racoon City. Here Alice wears a Matrix-like costume and goes to the Umbrella Corporation headquarters to search for Matt. You see her going in and one of the guards asks what he can do for her. Before she can answer the security systems identify her and all guards draw their weapons. She consequently draws her own, the camera moves closer and you hear a shot. Then you see a close-up of her closing eye."

A movie as mediocre as Resident EVil does not deserve three releases in the span of two years.

Christine specs from Creature-Corner..

"Columbia's Christine: SE streets on September 28th with a sticker price of $19.94. Actor Keith Gordon joins John Carpenter for an audio commentary (should be interesting); expect to see more of Gordon with co-stars John Stockwell and Alexandra Paul along with writer Bill Phillips for the interviews featured in three featurettes that'll appear on the disc. Expect at least twenty (!) deleted scenes and alternate takes too."

Sounds like the Christine SE is going to be great. I just hope that the Carpenter/Gordon commentary is as much fun as the Carpenter/Russell tracks on the Thing and Big Trouble In Little China discs. Plus, Laurent Bouzereau's DVD documentaries are always very fat-free and informative.

Looking damn forward to picking these up. Oddly, Columbia keeps issuing special editions of everything.
