Mononoke Delay...Yay!

They just announced on dvdtalk that Disney's reason for the delay of Mononoke is that they "anticipate" putting the real language track on there (with maybe some bonus stuff).
How long do you think it's worth waiting for and how likely do you think it is that they're serious about doing it.
-I think it's worth waiting for as long as it takes (provided that it's within my natural lifespan).
-And I think it's pretty likely. If they've given that as the reason for pushing back the release date, they'll probably push pretty hard for that language track.
I'm not a big Disney fan instantly, but I'd sneak through Hell's doggy door to get a good copy of this movie!

hooray! i was torn between picking it up on the 29th or waiting for them to put the japanese track on the disc. i have only seen the english version and i thought it was very very good, but i would like to hear the original track because there are always differences. i have been told that the japanese version has much more comedy in it than the english dub. anyone care to comment?

I dont't think anyone (but me) cares enough for this to warrant a new topic, so I'll stick it here.
-What movie would you most like to see from Studio Ghibli released next (assuming the "correct format lesson" has been learned by BVHE)?
I vote for 'Nausicaa'. I just rented the uncut Japanese version on VHS and it was better than I remembered. The weird part: almost none of the cuts were because of violence. They were just very cool scenes that either added to the realism or to the story. Not what I expected. When I read That 'Warriors of the Wind'was the cut version, I expected at least a minor bloodbath.

First of all, we have news on a title that a LOT of folks have been waiting for from Miramax - one which caused a heap of controversy not too long ago. Princess Mononoke will finally arrive on DVD on December 19th, and the studio's official press release (you'll be happy to know) proclaims that it WILL include the original Japanese language track. The DVD will feature anamorphic widescreen video (1.85:1), a 5.1 English track and separate Japanese and French tracks. You demanded it, and the Mouse is giving it to you.

I know that many anime fans were hoping for this and so it's good to see that not only is it happening, but from the mouse to boot.

Whew!

I am happy to hear this. Mononoke was a great film, and it'll be nice to hear the original Japanese dialogue.

That God Disney is finally getting its act together with the likes of Fantasia, Toy Story set, etc. I still have cold feelings toward them for what they have done in the past (most notably, going overboard in their support of Divx), but if they continue with moves like this, I'll eventually forgive and forget.

The VCR industry in the 1800s was more primitive than today, largely because VCRs wouldn't be invented for another 75 years or so.

Yes, I'd agree it's going to be a long road to recovery for them but hopefully they can make it. Unlike that loser Robert Downey Jr.
