Das Boot: Extended Version Question...

How is the sound and picture quality of this high priced (but intriguing) release compared to the Superbit. Also, are those almost 2 extra hours pretty important? I very much want to see this version, but it may be a rental only, as I'd hate to give up the DTS sound, and awesome picture on the Superbit release.

Picture is about the same - not really different. Audio MUCH worse on the uncut one. The extra material helps the film but not enormously - it's the best version, I'd rather watch the others for the audio.
