Kill Bill as one movie
A lot of people are going on and on about holding off on buying Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2 until some special combined version of the film comes out. Well truth of the matter is you don't need to wait for a special edition to come out. If you want to see the American cut of the film you'll need the region 1 dvds. If you want to see the uncut version you'll need the Japanese versions (region 2) of the films. Volume 2 is due early October.
Those who read Empire's review of the combined cut of Kill Bill know that they stated that when it played at Cannes there was a slight break about 5 minutes between films. To shorten this up and this should be common knowledge. At the end of Volume 1 after The Bride tells Sofie "they'll all soon be as dead as O-Ren" and the screen fades to black. Stop the film before you hear the music and you see the fake airplane. Eject the disc. Take an intermission if you want. Pop in Vol. 2 select the proper audio and subtitles. Go to chapter select chapter 2 "Massacre at Two Pines" and enjoy. Now for the downside. This applies to those with the Japanese DVDs. As you may know Vol. 1 has a ton of Japanese speaking parts. If you're like me and you watch the entire film with subtitles because you don't want to keep toggling between them you'll need to do the same with Vol. 2 seeing as any parts with Pai Mei are in Chinese. Anyway do what you want. Just trying to help out. |

Kill Bill is definitely one film cut into two parts, but I think people are holding off due to new releases for better extra features, since the current discs are lacking in that area.
