Daily Show?

Has anyone heard anything about the possibility of a Daily Show DVD set covering this year's US election? It has been some of the smartest and funniest TV I can remember seeing, and I am sure that it would stand up to repeated viewings especially in the next couple of years. The Demorcratic Convention coverage alone had me in, how you say, stitches.

I haven't heard anything, but I'd be surprised if they don't eventually release some sort of "best of" DVD. I'd definitely pick that one up.

I agree, a "Best of" dvd or their coverage on the convention would definately receive my money. I've been watching this show for years, they need to at least take one swing at some sort of DVD.

"Ed Helms: Oooh look, I'm a Democrat. I'm going to block your nomination. Oooh look, I'm a Republican. I'm going to block your blocking of the nomination. Oooh look, I'm Ted Kennedy. I have man boobies. "

CLASSIC!

To get news on "The Daily Show", the best place to go would be TVShowsOnDVD.com. They have news for different TV shows every day, even on weekends now. You can also register (for free) with them and indicate which shows you'd like to get emailed about whenever DVD news comes for them. I personally use this to keep track of news for TV shows that I want on DVD. You can also vote for shows that you want on DVD, the results of which I am sure the guys there share with studios.

I checked there for you just now, and there has not been any news to date about DVD's for "The Daily Show".

I seem to recall an interview with JOn Stewart somewhere where he was asked about the possibility of "Best Of" DVDs and he said something along the lines of "Probably not going to happen. Everytime we look at the idea, it just seems as if the material gets dated really fast..." (Sorry I can't remembr where I came across that. It was a while back...)

Shame if that line of thinking is still prevailing at the show though. There have been so many great moments over the years. I wouldn't mind seeing a "Best of DS Interviews" disc just to have the Miss Piggy interview.

Miss Piggy stumbles over an answer.
Stewart- "What's the matter? Got a frog in your throat?"

Hell, I'd take a four hour disc of every Lewis Black rant edited together into one long stream.

I was at a conference earlier this year, one of the writers for the show was a speaker, and this question came up. They said that DVDs weren't very likely because whenever they watched older episodes of the show, they just weren't that funny anymore. The material they write was too timely, in their opinions. Just like Clinton jokes got old fast once it was over, so too will the Bush jokes.

I would kill for a best of dvd of correspondent pieces. To have Even Steven or the Ad-Nauseum pieces all in one place would be heavenly.

I don't think you could do much with the core of the show, but a DVD containing the best "investigative reports" type shit would sell like hot-cakes, I would imagine. I'd buy it.

I think they should do a best of and just have their best of discs for each "Field Reporter" on th crew. I would love to see a Back in Black best of rants disc. Plus you can do a John Stewart disc of his fav/best news desk reports

I would buy

Yeah, a disc for each reporter, plus a best of the news disc... sounds good to me SB. Maybe a box set of all of them...

There should already have been a Best of the Jon Stewart Show, IMO.

Unless I missed it already....

It was so influential AFAIK, and was actually new and fresh.
