20th Fox - why no catalog numbers?

anyone notice just how many (possibly all?) 20th Century Fox titles don't have catalog numbers on 'em?

they usually come with bar codes (though some of the TV box sets, like the Simpsons or the first couple of Buffyboxes only have 'em on paper inserts, not on the covers themselves), and I guess yoiu could consider the bar code to be a kind of catalog number. but it seems odd that they would just drop such an industry standard.

maybe it's just the anally compulsive hardcore record collector in me, but it just seems weird not to have a number assigned to each release.
