I want my HDTV dvds in the future to come in Jewel CD Cases!

You know..when I first saw Divx discs (EWW..Divx!) I thought they look cool. Just like an amaray's cover art..but CD style. I don't see the need for companies to go through measures in finding which case is best to hold a dvd! The jewel cases are fine. If they break..just buy a new one and they cost dirt cheap! Plus..the manual is mad cool cause it's small..and it's also the cover to the Jewel Case. I'm sure many disagree..but think about it..no more broken hubs..or loose discs or beat up cases..no more snappers. I know the HDTV Jewel Cases dvd won't match the current 480P dvd flicks we have..but it's newer technology. I say thumbs up for Jewel Cases for HDTV dvds!

UGH!

no thanks!

Id take the snapper over that.

No broken hubs? you have to be joking, the jewel hubs ALWAYS break. I keep all my CDs in a holder so I actaully throw all my JCs out

Long Live the KeepCase!

Ditto everything FutureDirector said.

I happen to love DVD keepcases! Jewel cases are so boring!

Jewel cases suck. I always have to check a CD case before I buy it to make sure it's not already broken. Half the time the first one I pick up is cracked, or I find the spindle broken when I open it. Sony started off using both amaray and jewel cases, but have abandoned jewel cases, thank God. I hope they never go back to them for DVD.

Besides, one reason not to use jewel cases is so that you can easily distinguish between formats. Walk into your Best Buy, I'll betcha you find some early Universal and Sony DVD titles in the soundtrack section, like Waterworld, Babe, River Wild, or Jerry Maguire. I see it all the time. If people selling the discs can't even tell the difference, what's the chance that the average consumer will be able to? Not much, which is why DVD has its own style of case.
