Remaining Laserdisc Inventory To Be Destroyed?

I just read on HTF that Image may be planning to destroy its remaining inventory of laserdiscs, and that other companies may be planning to do the same, or have even done so already.

This may be the last chance to get a set of the Star Wars trilogy on THX LD for $30!

Why would they destroy the LD's? Sheesh, you'd think they could dump them off for a buck or two at the very least, and somebody would buy them.

They may destroy the inventory if the costs of liquidating it (taking & shipping orders, plus warehouse space) exceed the revenues they could get by liquidating it.

I would much rather see Image just sell the LDs cheap to some close-out distributor and let them off-load them...

Eye, remember what the doctor said about starting fires and using DVDs and LDs for kindling! The DVDs go on the bottom because they are smaller and go up quicker; thus igniting the LDs!

Please let someone take the initiative to save all those original Star Wars trilogy discs so that future generations will able to see the REAL SW trilogy!
