Story of Ricky, cut or uncut?
In a previous topic, many of you mentioned what DVD's you got for that materialist Christian holiday. My girlfriend was wonderful enough to get me "Story of Ricky." I haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing yet, but I've seen it a few times on a dub I made from a Japanese laserdisc a few years ago. That version runs 91 minutes, at least that is what my VHS timer says. Now I know there were a few versions released of this film, as it was a Japanese/Hong Kong co-production. Apparently the Japanese version is the uncut version, and the Hong Kong version is cut. That's why I worried why I worried when I checked the running time on the Tai Seng DVD (not the one with Ricky dominating the cover, the one where they have almost all of the characters and they brag about being about the exploding head movie from "The Daily Show," this version is distributed by Media Blasters I believe) and it was only 87 minutes. I quickly checked the DVD at the really gory parts, and they seemed to be all intact. Does anybody have this disc, or any other version, and can they tell me the difference? Much obliged.

Yes, I own the disc and am a pretty huge fan of the film, and will assure you that nothing is cut. There is another version, which is R2, that has more extras and a better transfer though, but the current Media Blasters is still the best and only US DVD of the film. Stu, I take it your a fellow fan of cult films?
