Something strange about Braveheart widescreen size !! ???

Braveheart is suppose to be a 2:35 movie but on my T.V it look more like 1:85 ... I don't understand coz all of my others movie work just great. I started to notice the difference when I realised that the english subtitles were at the bottom of the picture instead of under the picture ( in the black bar ) ... Also, the french subtitles were not working... This is really strange ! Does everyone else have the Subtitles just above the black bars ?

Welcome to the Forum!

First think I would check is the aspect ratio setting on your DVD player. I have a friend that has to change hers every time she turns hers on from 16:9 back to 4:3.

I have not had any problems with my disc, anyone else?

In theory, my settings are corrects... I choose a 4:3 display and all of my anamorphic movies played very well

There's normally
4:3
4:3 letterbox
16:9

in most players settings, you want to choose 4:3 letterbox to have the correct setting for you.

If you're set for 4:3, and you still have that problem...hmm...unless your TV has some sort of zoom feature you accidentaly hit, I would suggest you have a defective disc. Rent a copy of braveheart, if you can, or borrow one from a friend, and see if the problem persists. And welcome to the forum

Try 4:3 letterbox... That should help. But like the rest it depends on the player.

I'll jump on the bandwagon here:

Welcome to the forum!

And this might not be related, but maybe his player doesnt like that movie, case in point. I have 87 DVDs and have rented probably about 50 more movies between netflix and my video store, and there is one movie (Frequency) that for some reason thinks I have a 16x9 TV, and all the menus are off center, and the icons dont match up. If I manually switch my player to 4:3 mode, then its okay, but if I turn my player off and on and stick the disc back in, it does it again. NO OTHER movie Ive ever watched (even other New Line movies) do this.
