Maximum Overdrive

Just found a copy of Maximum Overdrive on DVD (reg2 import from belgium i think) but was wondering if anyone here has bought it and could tell me how the transfer is! It was really cheap in the store i found it about $7 soo i got a little scared and didnt buy it! Liked that movie when it came out and $7 isnt that much but thought i should check with you guys before buy anyway!

I believe this is on Anchor Bays' schedule for mid-2001. They'll probably do a much better job than whoever put out the R2 disc you saw. But the AB disc will likely be 2-3X more, so if that's a consideration you might want to pick it up. For $7, I'd be real curious as to how it looks and sounds and would probably pick it up.

Just thought I'd mention that the AB version is totally cut, it's the TV cut of the film.
It's a shame, this is the third time AB has done this (Sleepaway Camp, C.H.U.D.). Oh well, they are still the best!

Well finaly purchased this movie! Havnt put it in the player yet but it seems to be in non anamorphic(heh didnt think it would be anamorphic anyway)widescreen 2.35:1 with a running time of 97min 2channel sound dont know how long the cut version was but maybe someone here knows if the version i just bought is the telly cut version!
and Ill get back to this thread about the quality!(if anyone is interested).

Ok just watched the dvd heh the transfer wasnt all that great some dust and stuff and it was kindof like flimmerish like Blair witch
but it was worth $7 And it was UNCUT

Could you elaborate a little more on this? What was cut from the movie? Are the swears censored out or something? What is the difference between a TV and theatrical version?

Nice screens, man! Hehe, that HAS to be the worst menu I have ever seen since DVD was born, lol. The TV cut just simply means that they use the version they used for TV, the swears aren't edited out at all, nor is the violence, but it's the version they run on TV which is edited for time, so basically the AB version coming out is shorter than the original. Hope this helps
