How many times have you watched a DVD back-to-back?

Hi! For example, when I first saw "The Insider", I enjoyed it SOOO much that I watched it 1.5 times more (I had to get some sleep that night).

A friend tried watching Fight Club to see the FBI warning and ended up watching it 2.5 times (for a total viewing count of 3.5 times).

How many times have you watched a DVD back-to-back and which title was it?

Peace.....

Well, it's funny that you ask, I have a chart that I keep that has tally marks for all the times I've seen "Fight Club". 103 times exactly (it's my favorite movie). The day I got it I watched it 4 times back to back

This is a great topic tomdkat I've often wondered if anyone else has the same DVD viewing habits as me. Let me first say that in the majority of cases, additional immediate viewings for me require commentary tracks or an alternate version. That is to say I don't often sit through the same movie twice or more (at one time) unless something's different.

Now, to answer your question: 4! That's right, 4 times in one day. This wasn't your average 90 minute film either..nope, it clocks in at about 2:30:00 and the disc has 3 commentary tracks, hence the 4 viewings. That disc is 'Contact' I believe I bought that disc on the 2nd day I had my player, in the afternoon, and proceeded to spend the next 10 hours watching the film with each audio track.

In 2nd place would be 'Angela's Ashes' with 3 viewings back to back (2 commentaries there).

In most cases I will try to get all I can out of a disc within a short amount of time, but not always in one sitting.

As for 'The Insider', I gotta hand it to ya for sitting through it more than once. Great film but not the type I could watch again for a few years.

I don't think I could make it thru any given movie more than once in a day.
I need some time to digest a movie, to let its impressions take effect.

In fact, I think I need at least a couple weeks between viewings.

Ordinarily, I'm like Dominik -- I don't like to watch something more than once at a sitting. However, The Usual Suspects was too good to pass up on the same sitting (I had not seen it in the movies). It started with watching just the beginning again to see if there was something I missed, and before I knew it, the movie had run all the way through again! And it was just as enjoyable, although for slightly different reasons.

How 'bout The Grinch (original)? Don't they show a marathon for 24 hours on the Superstation every Christmas? I sat through it 3 times last year

I'm with Dom. I don't do repetition.

I think the closest I've come was Contact, where I watched the movie on day one, and the Zemekis commentary on Day two.

Gladiator - Twice. First the film, then the commentary track.

The Perfect Storm - Twice. Same as above.

The Matrix - This one I think I watched on a continuing loop for like a day and a half. It was the first disc I got after I got my player.

Like the rest of you, I usually only repeat viewings back to back if there is a commentary or something.

I can't say as I've watched too many movies back-to-back, but I often find myself watching a movie once each day for a couple of days in a row (X-Men was one of the last movies that I did this for), right after I get them. Then I wait for a couple weeks or a month before revisiting them, and then I rewatch them every month or so after that.

I've done the same thing, deepfry. For a while, "Boiler Room" was the DVD of choice for me when I got home from work. I would get home, change into lounge clothes, put on "Boiler Room", get some dinner and watch as much of the movie as I could before I would crash.

I did this for about two weeks (or so).

Peace.....

There are a few Anime titles that I've watched back-to-back. I can do that with Animation of sorts, but not "live action" films.

I watched The Matrix three times back-to-back, once with the film audio, once with commentary, and once in "follow the white rabbit" mode. I don't normally do this, but I was so damn jazzed to get the disc that I couldn't stop myself. I was out of control...in a good way.

Probably the most I've ever watched a dvd back-to-back was Fight Club, with the commentaries. It's also the only multiple-commentary dvd I've listened to all the commentaries of.

For me it was Pitch Black, 2.5 times. Once through with DTS track, then 1/2 on DD 5.1, then Audio Commentary.

I want to say 3 times on T2, but I'm confusing versions seen, with how many times I watched it. It comes in at 2 times.

Movie seen most often in the shortest time span? A Tie. Army of Darkness, Contact and Silverado, all in at 4 viewings in 72 hours. (i.e. I watched multiple times myself, then had company later that wanted to watch it too).

DVDs watched the most, A Bug's Life and Fifth Element, both in at about 10 times.

Thanks.

Titan A.E. - I ran looped in the background 4 times. I didn't pay great attention to every scene.

Supergirl - I watched the International Cut and then the Director's Cut immediately afterwards to see the differences.

Agreed. Ransom didn't get as much credit as it deserved. The laserdisk with the extra scenes INCLUDED in the movie, as opposed to being a supplement really added to the story. I really enjoyed this movie.

I watched BOOGIE NIGHTS and MAGNOLIA back to back several times and with friends. Repeated viewings are cooler when you can show it someone who hasn't seen the film. I have recently watched M:I 2 a few times (just the action scenes) and I also watch my Metallica S&M DVD all the time.

But good porn discs like Barely Legal #1 and All Star are worth far more viewings. Both Check out the Adult video nominations at www.dvdempire.com ...it's all very cool. Sorry to those who don't share this passion of mine. Hey, I've got over 300 non-porn films in my collection. It's not like I'm obsessed with smut. Although I do think there should be an adult forum on dvdfile.

I have a collection of a little over 100 DVD's. As all of us that love to collect movies, I love watching them over and over again! With that being said I haven't really watched one back to back or for that matter sat and watched a commentary. Until now......

Last week I went to my local Best Buy and picked up "Dark City" for $14.99. It was kinda a blind purchase considering I had only watched the opening scene on a pay channel. Well I LO
