Best Buy screwed up my Reward Zone Points...

I may go buy some new dvd's because Best Buy screwed up my points.

When I bought my TV, they put the RZ account under my dad's name, not mine, So I called and they cancelled his account and transferred the points under my name, still nothing after 2 months. I call back AGAIN and have them reopen my dad's account and suppose to close mine, however, they didn't, Instead of receiving $145 in certificates, I got $275!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy, feelin sappy

I'm thinking:

Profiler S3
Profiler S4
CSI Miami S1
CSI S3
CSI S4

If I don't get all those, i'm going to get a 17" Sony LCD Flat-Panel w/ XBRITE Technology

Excellent. You should see me in Best Buy. It's like Homer Simpson when he sees donuts. Not really into Profiler or CSI but if you like them, it's cool. I get recognized in Best Buy by the salespeople. Same thing happens in Wal-Mart. I got recognized in Wal-Mart this morning when I bought Mulan: SE.

My total cash I had to pay out/charged, was only $192 after the $50 rebate It's been a great purchase so far. Although, I really want Profiler Season 3 and 4. I just finished season 2

I love BestBuy but they're starting to get cheap.
Didn't they just raise the amount of points you need to get until you can receive a gift certificate, to like 15,000.
And it takes them forever to mail the certificates out, and thats if they don't screw up in the 1st place and skip over one of the certificates that they owe you.
And don't you guys think the renewal price should be $5 instead of the $10 you paid to become a member in the 1st place.
And now if you buy a product that comes with rebates you'll only get the amount of points that the item would cost after mail-in rebates.

I totally agree, 100%, however, I did make a $3700 purchase, so I figured either way i'm a winner

I'm also a Best Buy lover, and a reward zones member, but I really wish they start stocking some of their manufactures higher quality electronics so I could get a fistfull of certificates also. I usually only buy "Media" at Best Buy

FYI. I almost positive you can receive them via e-mail if you sign up. I received a letter once that told me I'd get 5,000 points If I sign up at the rewardzones site to receive certificates via e-mail.

As for renewal. If you can hold your self back don't renew as soon as it expires. This will be my third year as a zone member (I was a beta tester 1st year was free) and both times I let my memberships expire. What happened? My mail box was bombarded with bonus point offers asking for me to renew.

Thanks J Greer,
I knew about the e-mail option but the expiration info was new to me. Thanks for the heads up.

I had nothing but problems with the emailed certificates, so I switched back to getting them mailed, but now I'm waiting on four or five of them to get it. If they don't get in by Tuesday I'm going to call them again and do me some ass chewin'.

Everytime I would try to print them it would just stick on the "loading" screen and never progress, never print. Happened twice, so I called and just said mail 'em. Haven't gotten those yet either though...

me too, I couldn't print them because of settings, and after 2 attempts, I gave up, also, after 2 attempts they're void and have to be reissued.....mail is just better I'd say.

My settings exactly matched what they said they should have, but they still wouldn't print.

to the people who are members....

is it worth it?? I had a best buy lady trying to get me to join the reward zone when i bought GTA:SA. I said no thanks, but as i left i thought that i do spend a lot of money on dvd's and stuff there.

I wasnt sure if it was worth the hassle of spending 10 bucks to get some gift certificates in the mail. Although i do plan on making some sort of computer purchase soon, dont know if it will be at BB tho.

Hey Leeving,
I wish I could give you a straight answer but I can't. I mean at first I thought it was the greatest thing. "I shop at BB a lot, mine as well get points". But now the Cons are starting to outweigh the Pros. Its $10 to renew, which you have to do every year (I personally think that if you're a member your renewal fee should be at a lower cost). They just upped the amount of points you need to get before you'll receive a gift certificate (they'll probably raise it again in another year). There is MASS confusion concerning the mailing and distributing of the gift certificates, which has yet to be corrected (it usually takes 8 weeks before they even send them out). The certificates expire pretty soon after you get them, so you can't wait and add them all up. The last con that I can think of is one that someone else brought up earlier in this thread and it’s that Best Buy doesn't really sell too many top notch name brands when it comes to hardware, there biggest strength is their media section. So if you do save up your gift certificates chances are you'll be taking home some cheap Magnavox DVD player that doesn't even come with a "Resume" function.
It does have its pros. Bonus points are fairly easy to come by and it seems as if they're starting to give reward zone members cheaper prices on select DVD's. So perhaps all is not lost. Hope this can somewhat help you.

Hey,
I can give you an answer...If you don't spend over $500 every 2-3 months or if your not going to make a big purchase...don't even bother. I made a $3700 purchase and only got $145 in certificates, so that goes to show you need to make BIG purchases to get even your $10 back that you spent joining, however, they fucked up and send me an extra $130 $275

It's pretty simple: if you spend more than $300 a year at BB, do it. If not, don't.

Additionally, BB has double and triple point promotions on media as well as hardware, TV's, etc. which can make points add up quickly if make big purchases.

Recently they had double points on game, CD, DVD purchases AND 15% off all DVD's box sets included. I got some big box sets ST:TOS S1 with bonus disk as well as ST-original movies special ed 12-disk set (for the lowest price around (about $11/DVD). BTW the 15% off was only Thurs-Sat and for anyone with or without Reward Card. (They have done the 15% off sale for the last 2 weeks, maybe again

So it might be worth it, if you can hit the double/triple point promotions.

Enjoy.

I might just go ahead and spend the 10 bucks to get it and try it out for a year....i did have the Sam Goody/musicland replay card back in the day, but they wern't too good about sending the $$ out. I just wanted to make sure it was really worth it.

thanks for all the info.

if your going to make a big purchase in the year its worth it, but if not, not really, bought a 50 inch samsung and got about 190 bucks in certificates, and they can all be used combined with no cash out of pocket so its really worth it, i bought a photo printer and some dvds it was great
