While it isn't nearly as good as the first, it is still an enjoyable film and i'm glad to see its getting the SE treatment

What a bunch of shit... I bought this along with the new Predator SE, figuring there would NEVER be an SE of this flick...

Unless there's a quality video upgrade I'll probably leave it be...

EDIT: Hey Shawn, edit that shit...

just curious, how much did you pay for the barebones version?

this too will be a double dip for me, but i only paid 8 bucks for the first release, so i'm not to upset about having to buy the film again

I think I paid $9.99, but still... Special Features aren't a big thing for me anymore, so unless the picture was improved or it's real cheap... I don't think I need it.

IMO Predator 2 original DVD release should have been released as a special edition when first released less then two years ago. The original release already had two EPK's and the trailer. If a dts track was included on the original release I would be happy as a clam. On the new release other then the new commentary and the deleted sequences this is just a special edition of more fluff. I woudn't be suprised if the EPK's on the current disc show up as EPK's on the special edition. All in all I'm happy with my original release that can be picked up for less then ten dollars.

If this is true.. then that's good news indeed

At least it will have a completely different cover.. and the new one can't possibly be uglier than the current edition

I guess this is proof that anything can get a re-issue.

I almost picked this up a few weeks ago. It was dirt cheap, but since it was non-anamorphic I held off. Since getting a 16x9 for my main movie viewing it would be extremely rare now that I buy a product that is not 16x9 enhanced.

So I am glad I held off.

And I have never seen this full movie either, only about 20 minutes of it.

Looks like this will be a decent set.

I like the film, but I don't think an SE is necessary.

Most excellent! Not a bad double dip for me, as I bought the Australian version a long time ago. The video is pretty good on the current version, but I do hope they redo it all the same. Now we have all the Predator and Alien movies in DTS!

While I still prefer the testosterone laden Predator, Predator 2 has grown on me over the years and I think I might get the SE.

I've never even seen Predator 2 all the way through. I've seen bits and pieces of it, but never the whole thing. It generally got trashed so much I never bothered. Maybe I'll take the plunge with the SE release though. Why not?

Flash, Predator 2 is anamorphic with an above average transfer, actually. You lucked out of double-dip! I may get the SE, but it's not a priority.

T'is ?

OK, I got the wrong info from someplace. My bad.

Well, for once, I won't have to double dip on a title. LOL.

Also, it's proof that the producers are convinced that we DVD fans (and fanatics) will buy anything they throw our way.

I actually thought the Predator 2 DVD's transfer looked a little dirty or something. Can't put my finger on it, but it seemed to look like VHS...Same thing with the Predator DTS (and CE from what I hear it's the same damned transfer), it's lackluster. Fox didn't put enough time and effort into restoring these.

At any rate, although I own the Predator 2 DVD, I will pick up the SE for completion's sake. So I can own the best-of-the-best of the Aliens and Predator discs...

Trust me, I used have the Predator 2 laserdisc(widescreen), and the DVD was a major step up. It didn't look as good as others, but it was decent. But there were definitly a few scenes that looked grainy, so it matches the first Predator nicely.

I was looking at the Amazon page for the new SE of Predator 2 and noticed that it says the movie has an NC-17 rating. A quick look at IMDB states that it originally received this rating. Is this true that the new SE will contain thie NC-17 version. Anyone heard any talk of what the rating will be on the DVD. Just curious

I don't know about that but I did read a review of the new SE and it is the same transfer as last time in both audio and video, except they added that DTS track and the extras. I am skipping this one because I am trying to cut back and I rebought predator and have still not watched the extra features
